It's probably a pretty popular pop and/or rock song.

Can't really remember what the rest of the song is about, I just vaguely remember this line.

I'm pretty sure it's a guy singing he's crawled or stumbled alone for so long that he can take the remaining last few steps to get back up or to start walking.

Yeah all of my Google searches come up with those two songs:
Linking Park - Crawling
Hoobastank - Crawling in the dark
It's neither of them.

I'm not sure if the actual word crawling is used, might be something very similar or even completely different words with the same meaning.

I think Linking Park - In the end, comes very close, but I think my song had more of a sad vibe, while In the end has more of an angry vibe.

Think we gotta focus more on the "a few more steps till I can stand" part, which may be worded differently too.
If I could remember the exact words or even the tune I'd have found it by now.
Been searching for hours lol

It's actually in Dutch ... Explains why I couldn't find it with English lyrics lol

Which loosely translates to something like:

I snuck into a loverboy concert circa 1983 got down into the front and proceeded to heckle the lead singer. It was OSSUM as I have always felt they were total tool bags

The drummer was a DJ on a Vancouver rock station as early as the late 80s/early 90s. Was kind of sad how quickly the mighty had fallen.
