Hey all, what do you make your standard open size at 1-2 NLHE? Just wonder what others do? I would say my standard is say 8-12 but more in the $8-10 range but also obv will depend if its a $200 vs 300 max bi game etc/etc.

Also just wondering, I'm a tourny player that feels like I have open ranges down pretty well.

How light are you opening from say UTG - ep (not mp and when we are first to enter pot). I just wonder if we can follow standard mtt opens on big stacks (80-150bb deep)?

Like utg in a tourny, i'm probably opening Q9s/j9s utg and almost all Ax suited. Just wondering if portions of bottom of range should be chopped off due to fact people are more likely to call IP and when its a cash game.

I just like to hear what others think. I play cash games for fun but obv trying to make money. At $1/2, should almost all big bluffs be omitted if we are just trying to produce a winning rate. I assume we can have almost a no bluff game and play ABC and make money at live 1/2 but wondering what people here say. I know in my former questions, it all depends on stacks at table, are there any short stacks (Say $50-80 stacks) etcetc

What hand do you have?

I think it makes sense to go bigger with value hands (QQ+ sometimes AK) and smaller with weaker steal hands like JTs.

No one is paying attention anyway so all these internet wizard crushers that say "balance balance pio pio pio" don't really know how the live games play.

It's fine to exploit by raising bigger with premiums preflop

We've got threads on these issues in the "best of LLSNL" sticky.

Short answer, it depends. Sounds like your EP opening range is way too loose, though. FE isn't much of a thing in low-stakes cash games, plus stacks are generally deeper than in tournaments. Put those together, and position becomes much more important.

I open $11 so the dealer will have the white chips needed to rake the pot. fwiw they changed our 1/2 into a 2/3 some years back.

Tournaments play nothing like 1/2.

I tried playing poker without bluffing once (only semi-bluffing) and I quickly realized that's a really bad idea.

How long was the ‘no bluffing’ experiment? Hours or days?

I tried never bluffing for awhile and then always bluffing. Oddly I ended up getting the same results, which was my QQ getting beat by J6o.

also...20 year anniversary of the Sydney Olympics.

Will be one of the most memorable periods of my life - indescribable feeling in the city when the Olympics are in town and the eyes of the world are on you.

Was lucky enough (and rich/foolish enough to throw $$$) to get a load of tickets - went to every night bar one of track & field, plus several days of the weightlifting, the key day of Greco Roman wrestling and rowing, plus tennis, cycling, triathlon.

Atmosphere in town was incredible and I almost killed myself with the partying. Slept 17 hours at one point after not sleeping for 2 nights previous
