We’ll continue this discussion the next time a star less team wins the championship.

For reference, the last time it happened was 2004.

Happy?

There’s nothing the Raptors could have done to prove to you that I was right except losing in round 1 or getting swept in round 2. I get it.

Spoiler:
now let it go.

Oh I get it. It's like when Mike Tyson never had a chance to beat Buster Douglas.

Reasoning: He lost. So he never had a chance. Don't you guys see how it works?!

Buster never had a reasonable chance to beat Mike consecutively in three best of seven series at that time.

But I can understand how you would think otherwise. Fair enough. It’s whatever.

For a guy who didn’t actually watch the series you seem to know an awful lot about it.

Raptors played good/great defence in 6 of 7 games. Turnovers almost cost them game 6 and absolutely killed them in game 7. That game was very winnable. But you wouldn’t know that.

But go ahead please keep telling everyone in here why you’re right and everyone in here is wrong.

If they legit were destroyed by Boston my opinion would have been obviously off. That didn’t happen. They lost to the team that I specifically stated I was most worried about.

I think you are more concerned about being “correct” than I am. You’re the only person stating that there is a right and wrong here with zero grey area in the middle.

2004 the league changed because Lebron entered it and the Spurs were already a dynasty. Then obviously Golden State has dominated the last 5-6 years.

You do understand that things change and 2004 has nothing to do with 2020, right? Everything about this playoffs is different compared to any other year ever down to playing all the games in one city with zero fans.

I’m not saying I was right. I’m saying there was no definitive answer a month ago. This is why Vegas exists, no? Math? Unknown?

Factually untrue.

Mike Tyson was probably my favorite boxer to watch but he was also probably the most overrated. Great boxer and great talent but not even top 10 HW of all time in my book. If memory serves me correctly he was like a 37 to 1 favorite vs Buster Douglas. However, right before that fight took place happens to be the peak height of Tyson's overratedness. BTW, I hate cross-sport comparisons so I will not be making any.

NBA discussion is definitely the nut low but I agree with r2p that winning championships in the NBA is all about having the star. Hard to believe there are 7 teams with a chance though but I don't watch the NBA so who knows and who cares.

Thread is lacking:

Posters challenging each other to fights
Australian dinner parties turning into all-out brawls
Recreational drug usage

Like Teddy Atlas said, in his book Tyson was 0-5.

Some of us peasants without custom built Las Vegas homes and 30K pots have to get cheap thrills at work when we can.

It's obviously because you haven't been jerking off to pictures of custom built houses imo.

Feel free to keep throwing shade, not offended.

For the record though- Outside of poker and index funds I don’t gamble in any large capacity. At the moment, I practice fairly conservative BRM. I don’t bet sports or play table games, currently.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with doing those things, and there’s money to be made, but I’d rather not develop a habit that has potential to ruin me in the future.

In this context, I was just saying a 10/1 dog has “no chance” of winning the title. Nothing prophetic about that.

At least in poker, I know I can develop a massive skill edge in any game I play if I work towards that/ can only play in games where that is the case overtime. That being said, the same applies to poker as well.

I appreciate the constructive criticism.
