Garick maybe you should just say something like "hey 67o, next time you mention an explicit sex act, you're banned." Maybe that will work. But with this guy, prob not.
Pains me to say it but +1 to all of this

The desire to put one's snoot in a poop chute isn't that unusual, but the need to constantly bring it up seems weird.

I told him about a week ago, so beat it.

I said I was gonna calm it down...Anyways, I know we have one of the biggest rivalries on 2+2, but you showed some class recently by not kicking me when I was vulnerable. Just know if you have a heart attack or stroke at the meetup, I'll be the first one to call for the ambulance. Some things are bigger than our ongoing dispute.

Someone here needs this.

Another band that didn't get better just more famous OK, maybe that's too hot a take? Murmur, Document, Fables of the Reconstruction, Life's Rich Pageant all way better then Green, Out of Time and Automatic for the People, each of which was bigger then the last and basically the end of their arc of relevance (IMO).

Automatic is their best record. I won't fight you on the other takes

Will disagree on relevance. Up is an underrated gem and New Adventures is a good listen. Monster can go right in the trash can tho

Accelerate was pretty, pretty good. 100% agree that the later stuff was generally weaker, though, especially in the middle. Hard to pick a best, but it's definitely not Automatic, emo boy. I'd probably argue for Fables. Reckoning has some of my all time favorite songs, though.

nah. It's not popular to say but it's clear that out there artists have their best success when a producer guides them into the mainstream.

+2 to curtailing the Dear Penthouse Forum. At least the rule should ban "I wanted to . . . " and only permit " . . . and I never thought it would happen to me."

I'm in an annoying predicament. Some guy that lives in both Vegas and Michigan and is in the home game I'm in said he's gonna fly me out to Vegas on Monday, pay for my room and food, and buy me in to tournaments the next few weeks.

If it were a lot of different people I'd be open to the idea, but this guy is a little different. He owes lots of people money in the poker world, and he's a convicted felon for a violent offense.

He pulled me outside yesterday and detailed his plan and I was so caught off guard that I just said "alright." I guess I just tell him today when I see him "hey, I'm not comfortable playing with your money. I really appreciate the offer, but I'm sorry, I'm not willing to do this."

I just look at my future, and don't see anything good coming out of getting involved with this guy. I also don't wanna lose money in the stake and then get killed or whatever.

Just say you changed your mind and would prefer to not fly in the current conditions-

Or, if he's unlikely to buy that given your previously stated positions, tell him that you just heard that Vegas casinos are requiring masks and you don't want to play with one on.

Or just say that something came up work-wise and you can't go to Vegas after all.

I've made my opinion on shutdowns really clear, so he wouldn't buy that.

I thought about saying I have in person interviews the next two weeks, but I know what's gonna happen is after he fusses about it, he's gonna say "alright, we're gonna fly you out in three weeks." I think I just have to be straight up, and give a definitive "this will never happen" stance.

I guess **** like this is part of becoming a seasoned grown ass man.

Interesting. Fables is probably the record of theirs I listen to the least.

But yea Reckoning has Camera, Rockville and So Central Rain. Pretty strong.

Of the pre Warner Bros records my favorite would clearly be Life's Rich Pageant...I Believe, Begin the Begin, Fall on Me are all "chef's kiss"

Not really sure that accessibility is always inverse to quality. I think it's just as likely that we consider a band "at its best" when we discover them and start to like them. (TV On The Radio is a great example, Sonic Youth somewhat as well.)

fwiw for me it's probably Green>Murmur>Dead Letter Office>1984-86~Monster>>>>1990's. Out of Time didn't hold up well AT ALL. Mid-80s stuff low on the list just because I happened to be listening to other stuff.

I don't even play tournaments, but he says it's for the online world series.

I started late and started with their greatest early hits Eponymous (which is probably pretty much all I needed for the early years). Never was a huge fan of Losing My Religion, and Radio Song didn't make the CD-to-tape copy for me (love the riff but hate most of the rest of it), but otherwise I think Out Of Time does hold up quite well; course I'm one of the few who actually likes Shiny Happy People. I also enjoyed Automatic For The People, but upon hearing What's The Frequency Kenneth I stopped buying REM albums at that point, although a handful of songs post that have made the iPod. Course, this is also a very familiar enjoyment-of-band arc for me (totally get into a couple of back-to-back albums and then getting into other bands more).

Bolded are two of my all time fave songs. Life's Rich Pageant is also very strong, and belongs in the top album discussion. In addition to the tracks you listed, I am also quite fond of Underneath the Bunker and Superman.
