In a home game where you aren't allowwd to buyin for more than 50 bb , is it more profitable to buyin for as much as possible (50bb) , or less (as low as 10bb)? This assuming bankroll wasn't an issue either way . What strategy would you use to extract max value? Game is very soft (cali soft)

If you crush a game, buy in as deep as possible, up to your bankroll tolerance.

imagine you have 1bb. you can either push or fold. bb is all-in automatically. pretty shitty game, no skill involved.
more = better.

For 50BB max I'm buying in for 50BB every time. At 50BB the best strategy is going to be a tight short stack strategy, wait for good cards and push hard. You can make a case for buying in shorter if the max buy in is big, 100BB+. Particularly if you don't know the game well the shorter stack lets you play a simpler strategy. But even then you would want to buy in for 50BB.
Things change once you have doubled up, you will need to adjust your strategy based on effective stacks sizes on a case by case basis.

What do you think that 10bb would be better?
Would you leave when you double up to 20bb?
50bb is def better assuming you're better than most of the table.
If you're not, and you want to play anyway, do whatever makes you the happiest.
