Hey all, just got back from a winning session and have a question about preflop sizing.

Ok I have just won a big pot and I’m sitting on $860 stack at 1-2 in a game with a crazy asian guy that is opening almost all pots he plays and is playing like a maniac. Where I play, this is gold as most players are super nitty and games are isn’t on action.

On to the hand, crazy asian guy utg straddles to 4, semi aggro reg raises to 16 (utg+2) and is flatted by a splashy player mp. I have QQ 1 off button and make it 90 as these two players were semi splashy. Crazy asian aggro shoves his remaking 50 dollar stack in and others fold.

Ok so here not thinking about the crazy asian guy, what is good sizing with QQ here? Looking back, I feel 90 is way too much. Looking back I feel 64-75 is more ideal and if I could go back in time, I would prolly make it 72. Thanks for any thoughts on this sizing question. The Ep agg had prolly a 250-300 stack and flatter behind him had 200.

I'd rather have you go too big than too small ; you got HU with the crazy guy right ? not a bad result at all

It is a little on the large side; I think between 70-85 is good; given the dynamic I don't mind the big sizing that much bc these types of players hate folding but sizing down a smidge seems to be a bit better bc you do want action at the end of the day

$70 sounds about right. Could make it $66 so it’s and even $50 to call

Im going to make it my mission in life to get people to stop betting in those increments. Just make it $70.

Please stop doing that and slowing the games down. They are slow enough already.

I fully agree. It's one of the more annoying things at 1/2 where people spend time calculating some optimum bet size in their head and bet $78.35 into a $150 pot. Bet $75 and be done with it.

When the pot is small it's fine betting odd amounts. Preflop you might want to make it $8 at a tight table. Post flop you might want to bet $7 into a limped $7 pot. But once you get above $25 just round off to the nearest $5 and be done with it.

Once you are raising more then 10% of effective stacks you are killing any possible odds. Any reasonable bet is going to do that here and even something as small as $40 is enough in this situation. I would go a little more because crazy Asian isn't likely to fold and I want to insure all the extra money in the pot doesn't give the second guy reasonable odds. $50 looks like a good bet size.

Yea I feel I want one of the other two players to call to play a pot. As played, crazy asian guy just put his stack in ($48) and others folded. I lost to K4 lol and left after which probably was stupid looking back as the game was really good. I wanted to leave up 2+ buyins after going on a 5 buy-in downswing my last 3 sessions and losing a $600-700 pot after getting in a 53-55% post flop spot with an overpaid that didn’t hold. Thanks for advice and I’ll consider staying in $5 increments to not slow game down.

This session was odd. I folded for 3 hours mainly and lost some small pots after just running ice cold. After 3 hrs, I started to finally pick up some hands.
