I think you played the hand fine but aren't experienced enough to articulate why. You bet what was "probably" the best hand 3 times, and then checked to a guy who knows enough to take a shot at you on the river, inducing a bluff. Obviously, this isn't going to be the case against OMC. A lot of LSNL players have a bet fold mentality, because it usually is right at these stakes, but these players become the fish against tough, thinking, observant opponents (not that you find a lot of those in 1/2, but they do exist).
If my average opponent raised me every time I repped a scare card I would be a net loser at poker. Most 1/2 players would rather be wrong and lose 30 than be wrong and lose 300, and that is exploitable.
All in all in the spot you were in, I would have more confidence that my hand was good on the river after this bet than I would be if he just checked it back. If he is mediocre and knows a little bit.
May be it depends on where u live. In the casino ( ~100 poker tables) I go to I m pretty sure there are around dozen pros who make living at 1/2 with poker and see them everyday of the week. And usually they are fishing. I never see more than two pros at one table. I'm pretty comfortable/good against the normal recs. but I m not disciplined enough to avoid pros on one hand and on other hand i want to improve my game. So I play a hand or two against them once in a while.
True. Its possible to crush live 1-2 and make decent money in some places with lower expenses and lets face it there are live 1-2 grinders everywhere
