Hero is playing pretty snug, and hasn't shown any bluffs.

Did show down that he check called JJ 2 streets (turn and river) on a KQ456 board - 2 clubs.

Villain is defiantly recreational player.

$2/$5 -
Villain has maybe $400
Hero has $600

Villain UTG makes it $10
Hero 3bets $35 in CO with QQ

Flop is QQT

Villain checks
Hero?

Normally I'd say we have to check because we lock up the board, but pretty much all of his range is likely to call a reasonably small bet. I'd bet ~$30 and hope he improves on the turn. That gives us a little value now, and more value when he improves than we'd get if we checked.

Meh, still gonna check. A rec player probably feels a lot better about JJ than floating OOP with air.

I probably check. Betting half pot is fine too.

Villain has so much air in their range that checking is really the only option. The only way you make significant money in this hand if is the turn helps villain or villain was trapping with TT on the flop.

If you have been c-betting a lot and villain is aware enough to notice that then c-betting small for $35/$40 is OK. But in most situation the check is clearly better.

Ugh. You're never going to make a lot of money in this spot. I probably still bet. I never show, but I might show this one to prove that I still bet with quads. Gotta hope villain will peel with a pp or AK.

Gotta watch out for those defiant rec players. They're tricky.

I should've asked about V's opening range first; I just assumed something like AJ+/88+. Seriously doubt a rec player is folding AK/AJ/JJ+ to a small cbet. If he's opening lighter than that & calling a 3b OOP, then yes, definitely check.

Bet 45. He'll call with most broadways and 77+. Can't waste a street to build pot.

He will call a flop bet with 77+ in a 3 bet pot? I wish I played where ever you play.

This hand will have to get shown even if he folds, because there is a high hand promotion and it's worth $500 - $1000 depending on the time you hit it. This particular high hand period was worth $1000

Raise sizing was small. He calls with mid pockets some percentage of the time.

Heck and bet bet final 2 streets betting flop is a little ambitious but since he's utg wtv

If you bet flop, go small, same turn and bomb river or vice versa bomb turn small river

I ended up checking, turn was a 3- I check again - river was a 5 and he donks out $50

I ship it in for like $300 more, and he folds.

I'm pretty sure he had nothing, as he snap folded.

I had almost this exact same hand the other day I flopped quad Q. I bet very light on the flop into 5 players about 1/4 pot, I think in hindsight I prefer either 1/2 pot or check. Probably check. I got lucky as someone hit a boat on the turn and I got paid off but you basically need people to catch up to get paid. It's so unlikely that villain had exactly TT in your spot so I think checking and then betting/raising the turn is best play.
