NWI NL 1/2
Hero got to the casino at 2 pm. First, the day OMC crowd was there. Hero started with 200 and was up against it all day during this 6 hour session. I had 4 pot wins save me and never rebought. I was at $180 but just lost a two pair hair to one of three villains who had the straddle on every orbit. Now I'm at $115 for this hand.
This was a great game although I fared poorly. Any 2+2er would have wanted to be in it.
Hero is on the button with QQ
Straddle is on and there are 4 callers!
It comes to me and there is $28 in the pot. The common raise in the game at this point was $18. I knew if I made it $30 I'd get between 2 and 4 callers.
I raised to $50.
First question, is this bet size off, way off or okay given the circumstances of this table?
Small blind folds.
Big blind is a newly arrived oldster. I've never seen him before in my life. He makes it $105.
I get a bad vibe but it's 65 to me which is what I have left. Is there any thought that hero can or could get away from queens given our puny stack remaining?

You’re getting 3:1 on a call so you only have to be good 25% to make this a correct call. The only way I’m folding is if V flips over his cards before I call and shows me AA or KK.

Your open is fine. Open ship looks even spazzier. Ship it now and loose to KK+

You have a <60bb stack and put almost half of it in with your large open. I'd stick the rest in without giving it much thought.

Even if Vs range is AA/KK and absolutely nothing else, it's only a slightly losing call by 4-6%. That small of a percentage can easily be offset by some player's "spaz factor". Adding just a few combos of AK/JJ to Vs range easily makes this a profitable call-off.

that's a great way to look at it, only have to be right a certain percentage of the time the results always jade one's analysis of a play, thanks for reminding me of this

thank you very much, you know when you haven't seen someone before--amidst a table with 5-6 regs at all times--you hate folding here and I couldn't.

You're going to run into AA/KK a good amount of the time here, but you committed yourself with a very large open with a small stack. These PF situations are very common when you're short stacking and it's just part of the territory when you choose to play the short stack strategy.

Thanks, yes, it does totally change, a lot of smart guys here "top off" when they plummet in a game but i didn't feel good about the craziness of the game so chose not to

Right, and I do it too. I always buy in full, and while I'm not obsessive about topping off I usually add on if i drop 50bb-75bb, sometimes sooner if there are deeper stacks at the table and it could potentially cost me profit by staying as deep as I possibly can. There are some times though that I elect not to do so, whether it's because I know I'm leaving soon, or just don't want to get deeper into the game because it's not very good or I know I'm not playing my best at the time. I was just saying there's a paradigm shift and these spots become more trivial and standard when you're playing short.
