Hi all,

1/3. V is young Spanish LAG raising 40% of hands. Spewed off $900 in last couple hours and rebought. V raises HJ to $10, hero has QQ in SB and 3! $35. V calls. Hero is effective $350. Pot $63.

Flop: A-T-5r. We both check.

Turn: 7. Hero bets $40. V calls. Pot $143.

River: A. Hero?

Thanks,
DT

C/C, imo. He'll be very tempted to stab at it. Obv he'll be betting any A as well, but if you bet river he'll often be raising that would be too 'spensive.

Is he really a LAG? Or does he just raise a lot preflop?

He raises a lot, once with 63o on BTN to $25. So he's very loose.

OK, but what about post flop? A real LAG applies pressure post flop. Most LAGs aren't checking back an Axx flop in a 3 bet pot. Certainly not if they have an Ace.

If he didnt bet this flop, there's a good chance hes not going to fire the river if you check to him so I would bet the river.

Go larger pre against spewy players.

Maybe I'm in the minority but I cbet this flop close to 100% of the time for 1/3 pot. Then OTT I play a mix strat of bet c/f and crai. Can't really comment on the rest of the hand since I'd never get myself in this kind of spot.

More pre vs this guy.

b/f 60 now for value vs non believing pps.

4x+x*y oop pre as a standard. Slighty larger as eff stacks get deeper.

x is open sizing and y is # of callers

So open to $10 with 2 callers for example

=4*$10+$10*2
=40+20
=$60

I just think of the open as a "unit" and it makes it easier, we want to 4x the first unit and then add 1 each additional unit per caller. 6 total units = $60.

I like offering poor IO of 8:1 with my 3bet, so I would have gone about $55 preflop, especially against a wild guy who is just so unlikely to fold, us being OOP, and us seeing enough A/K flops. Our sizing gave much better IO of 14:1, which ain't great if we're not going to be able to release our hand postflop (and in what is now going to be an SPR 5 pot against a wild guy we shouldn't ever fold on non A/K boards). ETA: Disagree with Ava's xn + y stuff as it simply doesn't bring stacks / IO into play (which is the only thing that matters at this depth).

I also check the flop in this WA/WB situation.

I would mostly continue checking on the turn. We setup bluffcatchers. Plus if any money goes into the pot on later streets there is far better chance we're ahead if we're check/calling than betting and getting called.

River is either/or. I think I lean towards a bluffcatcher cuz poor players will sometimes turn showdownable hands into bluffs here (and all whiffed draws usually will). Although obviously some argument for betting and hopefully getting looked up by a pair as well. But it would suck getting raised (I lean to getting to showdown in big pots especially if I'm not exactly sure who I'm up against and what they are capable of).
