Hi guys,

I played this hand yesterday in 1$/2$ table. I have a few questions here, Ill pinpoint each after the explanation of the hand.

I raise over 5 limpers to 20 in MP3 w AKo, I get reraised to 60 from nit on CO. Previously seen coldcall pf 3b w QQ so I reasonably put him on AK/KK+

1/ What are my pot odds here? 120$/40$=3 to 1, so I need 25% equity to call here, is this formulation correct?

2/ Now against this range I got 37% equity according to FZ. Does that mean I should call? (equity higher than pot odds)

3/ Whatever Equity % is on 5 cards, how can I calculate the equity for just seing the flop?

These questions couldnt let me sleep, so thank a million for your great feedback, and good luck to everyone.

Best,

1) Incorrect. You divide your call into the total pot size after the call. Also, you need to add the money from the limpers. 40/130 = 30.7% is what you need to call.

2) If you're just against KK+/AK then 37% includes ties. That complicates the math. You actually only have about a 9% chance to win this hand. So with no other betting, your EV on this call is..
58% Tie +$25 = $14.50
8% Win +$90 = $7.20
34% lose -40 = -$13.60
Total +EV = $8.10

3) You're correct, you only realize the $8 calculated above if you get to showdown. This is where you have to kinda get a *feel* for whether you're going to over-realize or under-realize your equity in a hand. If it's a multi-way pot, or if you're likely to fold before showdown, then you'll probably under-realize your equity. If you're in position, deep stacked, and can profitably bluff, then you'll probably over-realize your equity.
