Hero: $230 UTG seen as TAG player.

Villain: $300 MP Hasn't been doing much action but when he is involved, he will reraise. However, I haven't seen him go to showdown yet.

Hero has Q Q and limps ( with the intentions of reraising )

Villian bets $7
HiJack folds, accidently exposing A
CO calls
Hero reraises it to $27

Villain bets $65 ( I take my time reading him after this bet. He was breathing very heavily.)

CO folds

Hero??

yes I know people would have reraise preflop as the 1st act but I tend to limp and reraise with a bigger range-with more than just premium hands. Example 8/9 suited

Needlessly complicated, and I think you know it's bad too. Just raise QQ pre, fold 98s pre, AP call the 4b.

Call and proceed cautiously. It's not good that you 3-bet from the bottom of your perceived range and a tight (if aggressive) player 4-bet you. However, you have odds to set-mine.

If you are calling with the sole purpose of set mining then you do not have the odds to set mine.

Fold. This is mostly AA, sometimes KK.

Most people don’t 4bet a limp/reraiser with less than the above.

Pre-BF I saw many on-line players make this baby raise (LOL $7) attempting to appear weak, to invite a 3-bet. And not only in NLHE, also in PLO. It "whispers" AA.

And there are regs where I play that do the same thing.

In late position it's not the same thing, most often in late position it's a pot sweetener, we can 3-bet more safely more often.

But the mini-raise in MP plus the 4-bet screams AA. OK, maybe 5-10% KK but mostly AA.

It's NOT "merely" AK.

Be happy he told you now instead of later.

Fold. Definitely don't have odds to set mine. 23$ is the cutoff for prospecting and that's on the high side. What are you going to do when the flop comes T73 or K85 or 44J?

L/RR pre with QQ is super bad.

1) you likely shouldnt limp.
2) if you refuse to follow rule 1 you do NOT need to protect your limping range at 1/2 with a rr range because people dont isolate often enough.
3) if you refuse to follow rules 1 and 2 because you think youre daniel negraneau on high stakes poker, your L/RR value hands are some subset of AA and AK, you do NOT need to EVER do this wth QQ or JJ, and likely not even KK. (notably explained in harrington on cash games)

You can do L/RR with 65s, T9s, 87s, A5s but not with QQ or KK.
If the flop comes under a Queen or King people will put you on an over-pair. If the flop comes middle or small trash you may get a "hit" and have "equity-when-called" plus the illusion you create of having an over-pair.

All the good things could happen if you know how to play into the "mentality of human element"

you should remember that Dnegs got his ass kicked on HSP regularly.

FYP.

But yes, don't limp QQ. Your villains are going to eventually figure out your raising range is trash and start 3 betting you.
