Game: 2/5 NL

Stack Sizes:
Hero: $375
Villain 1: $1200
Villain 2: $800

Player Image:

Hero's Image - Young regular. Has played an average amount of hands. Has run and/or played really bad this session (example: bet all in vs aces full...did not show; got it all in with top set vs nut flush).

Villain 1 - most active player on table. Plays most hands. Is a fish and not a regular. Is winning a lot of hands

Villain 2 - Passive fish. Not a regular. Earlier stacked me for 60bbs when I flopped top set QQ-Q vs his flopped flush (A-5 sooted).

Preflop: Villain 1 raises to $20 from middle position. Villain 2 calls from CO. Hero is in big blind with KK. Hero raises to $80. Villain 1 calls. Villain 2 calls. Pot now $240.

Flop: 10-8-8 rainbow. Hero bets $100. Villain 1 calls. Villain 2 folds.

Please critically analyze my preflop and postflop bet sizing. thanks.

Both are fine. I might have bet the flop a tiny bit more so turn shove would be a little less compared to pot. But its already going to be pretty small anyway, so no big deal.

I'd probably go $70 PF, >1/2 pot OTF. Flop is dry so I follow your sizing. NH.

Standard. 3-bet sizing is perfect. Flop bet it good considering you stack size.

I'd probably 3-bet pre to $65 - $70ish because I WANT calls. $80 is a bit on the high side imo.

As played, good flop bet, V has to call turn shove.

If V flopped gin with TT, there's nothing you can do. No way you can get away from this hand.

Overall, nice hand well played

I don't mean this in a rude way at all, but what made you post this hand? It seems pretty standard. Was there something specific that made you question your bet sizing?

I think the flop is a smidge small. I like $120

Because he got coolered.

Obviously if you play correctly you will never lose a hand

Thank you for asking, because I did have a reason for posting this. I felt my bet sizing was probably a bit small, particularly on the flop. I felt I may have let my opponent "get there" but after reading the replies in this thread it seems like my bet sizing was fine (Albeit, probably improved by increasing the flop bet a bit)

Anyways, the turn came a 7 and we get it all in. If he was going to have me beat it seemed like the most obvious hands were an 8 or Jack-9. However, he turned over 77 for a turned full house.

Pre-flop is fine, no objections.

Post-flop is way to small @ less than 1/2 pot bet, any bet is committing us so just jam why give Villains better than 3:1 and 4:1 for calls.

Hero reads both V's as fishy, if correct ignore above, odds do not matter to Fish.

Still a shove.

Hand played perfectly, imo.

These fish are not looking at your SPR, we get the most value betting ~$100 and jamming any turn.

You got lots of action from an inferior hand that didn't have the odds to call. What else do you want (besides winning the hand of course)? So, I'd say your sizing was fine.

The fact that he called with 77 shows you that the flop bet was good. He want to keep his range wide enough to have those hands in it. Especially given that now your turn shove will be pretty small and he may talk himself into a call for that reason. NH imo.

When you 3bet to $80 pre (which I think is perfect), I think the $100 OTF looks a little sheepish, even with your shorter stack. I'd press it more to the $125 range.

Sucks he binked the turn. Can't complain about v's decision making up until there though. He's just burning money with no odds.

I'd 3bet to 60 pre especially since u have around 80bb only. U WANT at least 1 caller but I'm also happy with two callers. 3bet to 60 still won't allow them to correctly setmine but gives them a chance to make a big mistake post flop. As played I'd bet 120 on flop....if he's calling 100 he's callig 120 but he may fold to a shove on turn.
