Your equity required is all wrong, though, so it's a worse call than you thought. Flop pot is $50 if two called. Let's assume you meant 3 called and it really is $65. Now you bet $50, CO's $50 makes the pot $165, and he shoves for $425 more. There is $590 in the pot, as you said, but if you call another $425 only makes $1015, not $1115. $425 is 41.9% of $1015, making your equity gap, at best 12.4%. Pretty horrible call indeed.
Hero doesn't need anything close to 41.9% equity... A situation like that could only happen if villain raised over 2.5x pot.
Always remember that if there's a pot-sized bet, you're getting 2 to 1 and need 33%. If it's less than a pot-sized bet, you need less than 33% - if it's more than a pot sized bet, you need more than 33%. It's a good rule to use to make sure you're in the right general area.
EDIT - Villain did raise over 2.5x pot. Garick's post is right. I mis-read the action.
