This is one of those spots where you hit your dream flop, but I often question myself on how to play these hands.

BB: Youngish WG. Nothing tricky or spectacular, but decent. $180
UTG: Good LAG young WG. $500
Hero: UTG +1 $400 Middle-age WG. Generally seen as solid, tight player.

UTG straddles $5. I'm deal T9 and raise $15. (Yeah, not ideal in early position. But, I'm easily the tightest player at the table, and picked this spot to open up a bit.

MP LAG with $500 calls, as do BB and UTG.

Flop is 8JQ

BB bets $23 and UTG calls.

Now what? Why?

Glad it worked out - but surprised at the pre-flop raise. This hand plays nicely multiway - I save my image-leveraging raises for LP generally.

So three callers, you've got the nuts with redraws and someone's leading into you for 1/3 pot.... Can't really do much wrong here except fold. I'm a little tempted to smooth call to draw in the others - but your hand isn't invulnerable and it seems that the the BB wants to play. So either you raise modestly and bring him in... or flat and try to bring in the overstacks. It might depend on whether you are seeking max EV or minimum variance... I'd be really tempted to simply call (there's really only 2 maybe 3 combos of FDs out there that could beat you... KJ/AJ. AKss would probably have 3 bet)

Raise. He most likely has 2 pair and may give up on a bad turn. You are also deep and want a decent sized pot for the turn

Make it $65-75 on flop. Shove/call any turn.

As suggested here, I raised. Made it $103 total ($80 raise) think that if one of the two deeper stacks were to call, a pot-sized bet would get it in on the turn. The deep-stack next to act folded, BB tanked for a few minutes before shoving his remaining $150ish. 2nd deep-stack folds as well.

River and turn were largely inconsequential, BB never showed his hand.

Need to play this flop quick.

People are more willing to get money in with marginal hands --TPGK-- on the flop as compared to the turn.

Also since so few people adhere to above concept^ opponents are more likely to make an excuse to put you on a draw.
