I got AJo 4 times in about 2 hrs a few days ago, each time in an uncomfortable position, so I wanted to ask you guys what the best play would have been in each of these situations.

2/4 NL

1)
Hero in BB has AJo ~40BB

UTG+1 limps
MP2 limps
BTN limps
SB limps
Hero ?

I thought the only hands that beat me are small pairs that just fold if they don't hit their set. If I raise most of their hands won't get decent Implied Odds against my 40bb.

2)
Hero in SB has AJo ~60BB

CO raises to 14 (ABC poker until now, doesn't seem fishy and seems to know regs)
Hero ?

One thing I wanted to focus on more is playing IP. I am unsure what the best line here is: Raise to get some folds from steals, just flat and value bet if I hit, or even fold?

Don't remember the other hand, forgot to charge my phone so couldn't take notes

Need your image. But raising for value hand 1. Obviously willing to stack off anytime we hit Top pair. C-bet appropriate boards depending on how many callers we get.

Hand 2 is way to vag. Need way more table dynamics to make a good decision.

Hand 1: check is fine, I also like a raise. 10bb should take it down or get it short handed. if you get a call, you might shove any flop and likely have a lot of FE.

Hand 2: don't love limp calling AJ. Trying to make a hand OOP is always hard. And I think the hand is a little small to limp re raise without better reads. Prefer opening and folding to a raise or open folding depending on table dynamic. Limp fold is ok but with 60bb, limp folding is going to get you broke fast.

Hand 1 you could raise to 6bb and be stack committed if you flop top pair OR you could raise to 12 bb and shove when you miss the flop.

Hand 2, it depends, fold call and raise are all possible. No one size fits all answer. AJo OOP can be a killer.

why are you playing so short?

hand one, kinda want to know more about utg+1. if he is limping tons of pots I probably like raising to 8 bb and stack off on most boards where I make top pair plus.

hand 2, absent reads I might just fold. against an aggressive player I consider 3 betting. flatting puts us in a tonof tough spots oop.

edit: saw u limped hand 2. I really don't like limping here, I think owning and folding are both fine table dependant...as played, I guess flat.

Hand 2 is a clear fold. If the CO was a maniac who had 74o in his raising range it would be a shove.

Hand 1 is a little harder but I like te raise 10bb/get it in line at your stack size. Deeper, I would just check. AJo sucks in bad position.

Bottom line: if you don't think you can play AJ for profit OOP, don't play it. Add it to your button and CO range. It plays great there. Then, as you get better playing it, add it into other positions; UTG and the blinds will come last.

No I meant UTG+2 limped I was still in the SB

I ended up raising AJ in Hand 1 to about 6/7 BBs and got 2 callers. After missing the flop hard I decided just to check/fold against 2 opponents.

Hand 2 I called and UTG+2 called. Flop comes K75. It checked through so I decided to bet the 4 on the turn since I had only folded up to this point. UTG called my 2/3 pot bet and I gave up otr.

@mikko: I only played ~2 orbits in hand 1 and hand 2 was my next hand after ~3 orbits. So the only thing the other players really say was me fold 24/27 hands.

Hand 2: UTG+2 was literally shaking when he made a bet a few hands ago, so I guess he doesn't play poker that often.

Hand 1, I'd raise pretty big for value. Hand 2 is a super easy fold. Calling is terrible.

It depends on factors other than the number of players in the hand, but in general 2 opponents is a great number of opponents to c-bet bluff in to.
