Great discussion but, for this hand, it seems V is pretty straight forward, and big bet = big hand. Not disagreeing with the play, but now, just fold and move on.

3b pre, call flop, turn is close between call and raise (for the reasons that DGI said i believe, i mostly skimmed), id fold riv, i think this is a bluff very rarely.

the reason people call bombs on tripped boards is because value ranges narrow considerably as the combination of trips is cut in half when the board trips up. that being said, i dont think people bluff in this (or similar spots) very often using overbets.

oh also +1 on 3b more often pre

fold riv. Unless this guy is capable of making sick massive river bruffs with missed draws. I guess you can't discount the spazz factor with 88 or 99, but I think that happens rarely. I don't mind the FPS pre for many of the reasons discussed earlier ITT

Spoiler:
Hero folds, villain does not show.

I thought this hand was interesting because of the nonstandard line preflop that resulted in having to make different, potentially more difficult decisions in the hand. I see a lot of critiques of plays that lead to tougher decisions down the line, but it's those nonstandard lines that help develop one's skills as a player.

If you were going to fold in this hand, you should have done it on the flop or turn, not the river.
