The table is 8 handed. Villain is a white guy in his 30s with a shaved head. Tight aggressive pre-flop, weak-tight post. Hero has I think a LAG image since I raise super light in position (maybe 60% on the BU) and the table is all bad players that will limp fold a lot pre and be fit-or-fold post. However, when stacks went on hero always had a strong hand. Onto the hand:
Whole table limps, villain is in the SB with 500 effective. I have the table covered. Flop is 1062hh. I lead 15 into 21. The whole table folds except villain who calls. Turn is a q, so we turn two pair. Checks to hero who bets 35, villain raises to 95, hero?? Villain has 350 behind after the raise.
How's this a PAHWM vs a normal, albeit poorly formatted, post?
I'm assuming we're in BB? Do we have any hearts? Was the turn a heart?
As played, seems like a standard call. Might have a decision if V leads with large sizing OTR. My default is to try to see a cheap showdown. Might check back most rivers if checked to.
The most optimal play here is determined by your range of Villain's hand. Does he ever raise here with a hand worse than QT? i.e T6/Q2/combo draws like gutters/flush draws Kh9h/3h4h/7h8h. If his range is highly weighted towards a QT+ range(22/66) it's probably just a call and maybe even a check/fold depending on river betting action.
My default would be to call and check/call non heart rivers i guess?
Turn I'd either check back or bet/fold. By betting, we pretty much lose all his weak hands (such as Tx) that we'd like to get one more bet out of, and since he's tight he's unlikely to have a good but second best hand that will pay off (I mean, he never completes the SB with T6/T2/62, right?). He's weak-tight postflop, so not a great candidate to setup a bluff catcher against, so betting to protect against the flush draw is fine too. I'd nit fold to the raise. Yeah, he's only beating us with sets, and mostly just 66/22. But really, what else can he have?
call raise and call non heart rivers. only hands beating us are 66 and 22 right now. Raising turn with a flush draw seems weird after a flop call. Maybe V has a hand like QJhh and is happy just taking the pot down now.
Basically, start ranging a tight aggro preflop / weak-tight postflop guy who just check/raised us who bet into the world on the flop and continued betting (albeit HU) on the turn on this board.
I dunno, maybe I'm not considering hands like KJhh enough, but this is how a weak-tight player plays those hands postflop?
My apologies for the omitted information in OP. I had qs10h and limped utg. Hero had not been coming in for any limps and raised 95% of hands he can into. The other 5% was completing blinds. And yes before anyone says anything, I know, fold pre. This was my first limp in 6 hours and I thought I could credibly rep aces/kings/ak with a limp reraise if someone raised. Anyway into the hand. I felt that villain was almost never raising here as a semi bluff and I discounted q2 because of villain description and hero's good image post. Wanted to see what everyone thought between raising turn or just calling. I ended up tanking for a long time because I was tired and just called because I felt MUBSY despite having near the top of my range and i wasn't sure if villain would have or even get it in with q6 or q2 since hero always had it when he raised and got it in post. Anyway I end up calling on river is a 2, pairing the board. Villain checks. Hero?
