1/3 NL @ the Bellagio tonight...this one had me thinking for a while afterward.

Hero has $325 behind. Villain is a new opponent who just sat down, had no kind of history on him other than he bought in for the full $300, looks about 30, is plainly dressed and looks like he could be solid.

Hero is UTG +2 with 99 and opens for $12. Folds to CO who calls, rest of the table folds.

Flop ($28): 644

Hero leads out for $15, CO thinks for a few seconds then makes it $45.

Raise/call/fold in this spot?

At your stack level I'd fold knowing nothing else about the player. Short stacked shove.

This is one of the few boards where bluff raises are fairly common. Against a total unknown I'm still folding. 99 is not a strong enough pair to call down because you don't want to see any spades, any over cards or any under cards. Odds are against anything but a spade being bad but your going to be flying blind on the turn if villain continues.

Calling and playing turns.

May even lead turn quite large.

Not folding. Definitely call and see a turn.
