Hi all,

Line check please. I try to play draws aggr or call w/implied odds.

Hand 1

2/5 nl
Eff stacks $500
Playing 5 handed due to ppl taking breaks. I just sat down a few mins ago.
Hero CO - 25s
Bb - OMC who has a much larger stack.

PFR to $20
Bb calls

Flop - 3s4c8d
Bb checks
Hero c-bets 25$
Bb raises to 82$

Hero calls $57 given implied odds. 16% to hit my hand and pot is offering 25% equity.

Pot - $204
Turn 9c

Bb bets $100
Hero tank calls for the implied odds again.

River - bricks
Bb bets $200 and hero folds.

Hand 2
2/5 nl
Hero - button - $470
V - UTG+1 - $600

V got lucky vs a shorty recently and usually plays tight - limps to set mine and so forth.

Hero is new to table.

Mp1 (irrelevant) - raises to $15
2 callers to hero.
Hero calls with Q7ss
Bb and UTG call.

Pot - $90
Flop - 3s5s6h

UTG checks
Mp bets 40$
Folds to hero and hero calls w/immediate odds.
UTG raises to $140

Pot is $310
Mp folds and hero calls $100
With 24% hand equity and pot offering me 3-1

Turn - brick

UTG bets $160

Hero???

Does my stack justifying the initial call of flop raises in both hands?? I put myself in see spots and have a hard time when i don't hit.

Thanks!

Please fold pre in both hands.

If you're calling simply to hit your hand and not thinking about how you can win the pot by bluffing on later streets you've got the wrong idea.

Hand 1: Flop call is fine, stop thinking about implied odds and please fold the turn.

Hand 2: Against 33/55/66 you're a 67/33 dog. His range might be wider than this but obviously you have no fold equity if he has a set. Raising here is just spewing when Villain is likely a 2:1 favorite. When the turn bricks your equity likely drops to ~23%. The pot is now $570 and its $160 to call, giving you ~3.5:1 which isn't enough because you only have $315 left in your stack and your hand might as well be face up. Fold.

Play suited cards that can make decent pairs and that are connected and more importantly, play them in position. It will save you a lot of money and you won't find yourself in spots like this nearly as often. Focus on fundamentals rather than sexy concepts like "implied odds." Fundamentals are enough for a nice winrate in these games.

Well said but I'd like to add that you're also putting yourself in huge reverse implied odds situations. Lower suited connectors may flop a flush or straight that you'll lose your stack to a higher flush/straight. Flop example 1 could be this the poster for reverse implied odd type hands.

Dude stop calling with like 16 gappers and you'll plug a huge leak.

Seriously I need ******ed odds and a pfr'r if I'm calling with 3 gappers.

Fold turn in hand 1.

Fold preflop in hand 2. As played, on the flop just raise yourself the first time around. Your draw is pretty strong and he has 1-pair a lot.

Was trying to open my game to be more lag and get better winrates. It has only led to volatile stacks+FPS so far. Thanks for the feedback!

Back to fundamentals it is.
