Anyone keep track of their tips as well?

I usually tip $1 and occasionally $2 and the bulk of my game is 1/2, 1/3 (some 5/10 omaha mixed in)

So far past 2.5 months, 97 hours logged on poker income and I've tipped $295 (This includes waitress tips). so about $3/hr.

So if you're playing 20 hrs/week for about 50 weeks, you might be tipping almost $3k/year. Full time 40hr/week grinders will be tipping upwards of $6k/yr.

Pretty scary to think that you basically give the dealers a used car each year if u play full time.

Yeah I mean not only are you tipping the dealers but you are also tipping the cocktail waitresses. It is just the cost of doing business.

it is true that live expenses like can add up. after doing my taxes last week i was floored by how much i spent in gas, tolls,and hotels

i didn't track tips for between dealers, waitress(in poker room + restaurants) but i am sure that is a big number

I wouldn't ever track tips. I don't think anything good can come of it. I am not going to stop tipping, so all tracking tips would accomplish is annoy me.

Haha, sorry. I keep track of my tips, it's quite ridiculous. I've tipped $700 in the last 4 months (about 400 hours of play), and I by far the worst tipper at the table. Makes you realize how tipping on winning a $3-$15 pot can really affect your bottom line. Keeping track has definitely tightened up my tipping amounts.

I've tipped close to 1k in under 1k hours.

Still get looked at as a stiff when I tip 3$ on a 2k pot.

You don't have to stop tipping. You can just change the way you tip.

I had a friend who would always tip $2-3 when he started playing. After he started keeping track of and realized how much he tipped, he dropped it down to $1 as his standard.

More money in his pocket from this knowledge is pretty beneficial.

Also, an average 1/2 grinder who grinds @ a rate of $12/hr and tips $4/hr, cutting back from $2 tips to 1$ tips increases his earnings by over 15%. Thats really significant in the long run no matter how you look at it.

Also dealers make more money at $1/2 tables than the typical player with the benefit of no risk.

They get their base salary + $1-$3/hand depending on how players tip at a rate of about 25-30 hands/hour. So if you're playing for a source of income at 1/2, should you really be concerned about tipping the dealer the extra dollar when he makes about $50/hr and you're making $10-$30?

$50/hr is no where near minimum wage and they'll make about $40/hr even if every single player only tipped $1 per hand which just doesn't happen. All the dealers I'm friends with have said the money's good and never complain about not being able to get by b/c people only tip $1.

Lol dealers don't make anywhere near $50 an hour. They don't keep all of their tips.

Lol @11t dealers make 18$hr+. They're class A certified people. You have to have a 700+ credit score to even be considered.

Are employees at Walmart not trying to make it through the day?

Some dealers are inefficient, rude, and still expect a tip. If the pot is not over a certain amount I dont tip. If I get a bad beat I dont tip that dealer anymore either.

also, not tipping can have negative effects on your bottom line as well. it's probably not good to have a reputation of not tipping. for one, the dealers/floor certainly won't go out of their way to do you any favors which can mean a lot of things that aren't good for you.

I do this as a method to save money and express my anger at the dealer without berating them or tilting. That being said, other than cutting the deck, dealers dont have any control over the cards. There is no such thing as lucky dealers, or lucky seats, or calling for setups in order to win.

Dealers say or insinuate they have control over the cards when it is convenient for them such as when a jackpot is hit. Also, when you hit your draws or win two hands in a row.

I disagree that its no such thing as a lucky dealer. I know one dealer who deals coolers all ****in day. Has more BBJP then anyone. I'm talking about 70% more then any other dealer. Call it what you want its not normal.
