You are clearly a troll who wants to be fed.

You are telling someone they suck when they have beaten the game for a good hourly over 1400 hours.

Why, hungry?

BA - find someone to talk to. I'm serious. It will make a huge difference.

Also, if you hate your reg room that much, move, or at least try to make some friends there. Ask a dealer to lunch. Etc.

And TBH your problems with the ladies probably stem more from being depressed than from a job change. Got to fix yourself before you can worry about others.

bolt - might want to think about the future beyond tomorrow. Do you plan to have kids? Will you be able to still play then? Will you need to help your wife more with chores? Are you willing to miss their weekends? Etc. Because taking a big break in your career is just going to crush your ability to ever get back to the workforce if needed.

I just found this thread, and from it discovered that I had been calculating my hourly stddev incorrectly for months. It seems that my hourly stddev is actually twice as high as I had previously thought. Meaning that my data is half as meaningful as I had thought, sigh.
nice thinly veiled threesome brag imo. also, seek counseling.

1400 x 25 hands per hour is 35k hands. That is close to meaningless in terms of sample size. Its not rare for fish to run hot for 50-60k hands before going broke.

I have won over $100k playing over 1800 online MTTs, $12k in online cash and another $45k in live cash.

PM me if you think Im lying, happy to share my OPR/PTR results with you.

Well you're sorta right. Its very unlikely that he is a losing player. But he could certainly be a fairly mediocre winner.

what exactly does that standard deviation mean?
Make sure that number represents hourly std dev and not for whole sessions. The Poker Journal app, for example, reports both.

I have also have won a ton online and live and I can tell u that Online and Live meaningful sample size is soo different. I agree 35K hands is not that meaningful online but live it gives u a good (but not great) idea of your long term winrate.

What app helps with keeping track of live poker play? How many hands per hour are the norm for live play?

Last year i made 3k and this year so far about 2k playing 2/3 $100 NL. How do i figure out my hourly if I havent tracked my hours.

Try poker journal if you have iPhone.

Hourly = total win/loss divide by number of playing hours.

In your case, the hourly would be 2000/x.

Somewhat off topic but what the hell. I've Been in Corporate Finance for about a decade, and although there are some boring black and white Corp Fin jobs out there, once you get past the dues paying part, there is actually quite a bit of creativity involved. Accounting is always black and white, Corp Fin though allows for some flexibility in analytics, especially when you get up to the strategy/investments/decision support type stuff. I've found it as a nice complement to my poker over the years, and although I do eventually intend to give it up and play poker to support myself while obtaining my doctorate, I'm not quite ready yet

PS...its not all fun. But as far as corp jobs are concerned, get in with the right company and a halfway decent boss and life is not so bad!

higher than that i'd say. 30-40 depending on how competent the dealer is.

My guess is closer to 25. I highly doubt I've ever played at a table that has had anything close to 40, and if it does, table change (this sounds like a horrible no action table). Competence of dealer has little to do with it, IMO; it's more about the players and the table dynamics (does every pot go off multiway, lottsa thinkers in every hand, all go to the river, etc. versus lotta tight regs, lotta HU hands not going past the flop, etc.).

Are there any threads discussing micro stakes winrates? I read the first 17 pages of this thread, but no micro stakes mentioned.
Thanks.

next time you play do a count. i have done it before. it's very unusual not to get 15 a down from a dealer. good ones are getting in 20 ... unless there are some very slow players making very difficult decisions.

30 is probably a good hourly average. i wish i had the attention span to count how many hands i get tonight. some day i'll figure out how to track an entire session.
