I have a mindset question for u. What motivated u to play BJ for a month? U know its a -EV game and u r giving away EV$ by sitting at the table. On a side note I am proud to say I have never played a floor game in my life.

I played craps once for about 15 minutes. I'll never do that again and I'll never play a floor game ever again.

Because i started off winning (2-3k)and most of the time i would recoup poker losses to get off tilt. Then i started losing and betting heavy and lost 3k i had on me.

i was soooo tilted, i just wanted to get even then quit, it never happened after i brought 8k to the casino with me.

i am a 1-2 grinder and am confident i can rebuild, but trust me pit games are the devil, i got addicted simple as that.

easy - it is reflected in my stack. if i buy in for $300, win a $500 pot, tip dealer $5 bucks and leave my stack has $795 in it and that's what i log.

tips are part of the rake for me, keeping track of tips just to boost my percieved winrate is bad for your game.

This is from my 21st birthday in mid December

Profit/loss: $8,644.00
$/hour: $27.01
$/session: $116.81
Hours: 320
Cashed: 47/74 (63%)
$/hour Std dev. : $145.28

268 hours at 1/2, 40 at 2/5 and a few 1/3.

Br is around 6.5-7k due to spending money (ie beer and weed, full time college student)

My plan is to play 2/5 on Fridays and Saturday's. When I'm out of school for the summer hopefully I have the br to play 2/5 full time

I've seen a lot of people asking about the tip thing. I just don't get it. My win-rate is a net figure, not a gross one. All of the expenses I incur while playing (tipping, eating, etc.) should come out of my win-rate.

FWIW Muddbutt you are in the area in terms of BR where I think its best to take a 2/5 shot> I know you are saying you have played some, but if I was you I would be playing 2/5 exclusively unless I lost a few buy-ins and then back down. It is a bit aggressive, but you have some buffer where you can lose a it and not jeopardize your roll for 1/2.

That assumes you can play well in a 2/5 game on a relatively short roll and obviously that you are a winner at 2/5 which isn't necessarily a given obviously.

The thing is, when I'm at school the closest casino 2/5 is a 1k max, and usually the biggest game in the room. I've played it a few times and Its much different than the 2/5 500 max I'm used to playing back home which is the 2nd lowest game in te room. Also, the roll is pretty much my life roll (was dead broke until my birthday, started with 500 buck br) so I'm being a little conservative. I will most likely be grinding the 2/5 500 max all summer and mixing in some 200-300 buck tournaments

I just found this thread, and from it discovered that I had been calculating my hourly stddev incorrectly for months. It seems that my hourly stddev is actually twice as high as I had previously thought. Meaning that my data is half as meaningful as I had thought, sigh.

Your graph was the most depressing thing I've ever read. How you have the right mindframe to be a winning poker player is beyond me. Get some help, seriously.

No I am properly rolled for 1/2, but not for 2/5.

I was thinking that if I play a more conservative style with less money on the table, it would lessen the variance in building my roll up to the point where I have enough for 2/5, at which point I can then play normally. I know this leaves a bit of money on the table, but it is a more surefire way of making money (less risk/less reward).

I have always played pit games fairly often but never for big money, i just got in the "ah Fu*k it" mood and went huge. I think i can quit, very confident in that. But i will not play pit games at all, even for minimums, which will help.

%100 poker from here on out.
