I also live in the metro area as a top 10 rated party school (ASU) and a town known for its parties/nightlife, Scottsdale. The two most poplar poker casinos both boarder Tempe (ASU's home) and Scottsdale. So yes, it truly does surprise me.

I don't know about you, but I remember when I went to college that I was in no condition to go anywhere after our Saturday night parties...

I once woke up outdoors in the middle of winter and didn't know where I was.

Ya, I did a stint as a bouncer in a rock club, then did lights for a road band for about a year. Did too much drinking and whoring. Sundays was always the "recovery" day for us too, even if it was typically spent driving in a broke dick old school bus to the next gig.

We'd be top 5 if they had better apartment complexes.

Anyone else notice that this forum got a lot of people who've never really posted before to come out of the woodwork?

Yep and that is a good thing.

But a bad thing... I have seen several "bad" posts, people attacking people, posting crap one liners and the like.

After last years WSOP I took off about 6 months from all things poker, including 2+2. I come back, TT is gone over something or another, B&M has turned into a hostile place not unlike the zoo. If this forum had not come to life I likely would have just closed the tab on 2+2...

I really hope this forum stops the hostile posts we are starting to get. If everyone would just ask themselves before posting if they would say "XXXX" to someone face to face or not, I think a lot of this would stop. And if some of you would say some of the crap I have seen here and in B&M face to face, you need professional help...

I meant to point it out as a good thing. More than one person has said that they never posted before now because of all the reasons that have been previously mentioned.

You'll always run into some trolling on the internets. That's just a fact of life. But I completely agree with what you're saying. Also - some people just aren't very good at having a discussion. (My wife is one of those people sometimes. ) I try to give some people the benefit of the doubt. Often their previous posts are a huge indicator.

We're all here to learn.

I'm done with online poker for now! Maintained supernova for this month so I'm 5 for 5 this year with 58k. My aim is 200k for the year so I'm well behind but I can make that up in the last 4 months.

Tomorrow I go to UKIPT nottingham for a £500+60, with a £300+36 on saturday if I bust before day 3; lots and lots of juicy live cash as well. After that, I go to Peru for 2 weeks of tourist stuff and Macchu Picchu, then LAPT Lima, a $2.5k buyin that should be very, very soft; after that, it's Vegas baby! WSOP, including the main event (BRAG!) and a ton of $2/5 and $5/10 PLO cash and some $2/5 NLHE - unless I strike rich, in case I'm hitting Bobby's Room

I really do love being a professional poker player.

On my way to the casino right now (5:30am EST.) Time to pick on the players that have been there a little too long. Mother's day brunch at 1pm (Happy Mother's Day to all applicable.)
I never got round to doing this regularly but I did notice that at 8AM the play was astoundingly awful, and was planning on becoming an early bird reg ~ waking up at 7AM or something and cycling into work for an 8-hour shift, make it feel something like a regular job.

Then I remembered why I hated regular jobs.

Decided to play at Niagara today (instead of Fallsview) and boy did I play like ****. I started up 55bb and two hours later I left down 300bb. That's only 120bb at $2/$5 but I had a nice little seven session winning streak running (and that came to a crashing halt today.) The problem was that I played an unscheduled session because I was supposed to be at my sister's house helping her with her baby (as she just had some surgery) but she felt pretty good so I took off to play a little poker. Since I only had $1K on me I went to Niagara figuring I'd pick up some easy money but I just wasn't ready to play. My LAGgy style wasn't working there for me today and to make matters worse I couldn't buy a decent hand. I usually don't need a hand to make money but you have to come up with the goods sometimes. I misread a player in a big pot as having a 'made hand' on the turn so when the FD hit on the river, I shoved and he snapped me off with a J high flush (that hand was a 135bb swing to the bad.) I then ran AK into 2P for another 50bb and then three nines with an A kicker into a rivered straight (and although I made a good laydown on the end it still cost me another 45bb.) I made a lot of poor cbets and PF 3bets and near the end of the session I caught myself chasing a terrible draw so I packed up my **** and got the **** out of Dodge.

I may go home, get a little sleep and go back to the scene of the crime but that would be another unscheduled session (in the same day!)

On another note, a dude walked up to me just before I left and said, "Hey XXXXX, are you KneedUrDough on 2p2?" He's pretty cool and he plays good poker as well so it'll be alright talkin' shop with him but I don't want too many people knowing who I am around there. I think 'derrick' must have told him who I was as he's the only player I've ever shared my 'secret identity' with but I guess I don't care. He also wanted to know if I knew who 'FallsviewPokerPro' is but I don't.

Juicy Games - Too many bullets to dodge?

I've been playing 4-5 nights a week. NLHE 1-2 / 1-3 / 2-5

Games are juicy for the most part. Lately been running into games with a mix of a couple solid players, a nit or two, one or two spewers then 3-4 calling stations. Almost seems like there's just too many bullets to dodge for the games to be that profitable...though I know that's not the case The ideal game is when these two donks show up and buy in for over $1000 each over the course of the night and the rest of the players are fairly passive. I can fade those games and book good profits. Just been trying to alter my game a bit and figure out how to beat nearly a table full of bad players. Just too much easy money out there to not crush. But it's hard to dodge 3 hands to the river.

Any good advice? Should be like shooting monkeys in a barrel but it's been showdown poker with $200-$400 pots....unreal.

LOL Wazz, your recent run at San Remo not enough for you to take a cheeky shot at Bobby's Room?

Anyhow, hope that at the time of posting you're still playing @ Nottingham, my mate busted at level 4 or 5 today running KK AIPF into AK.

Pot control and value betting seems to be the keys to success in those situations.

I know it's disgusting. We play deep. Even the 1/2 games the average stack is about $400. My average bring in is $15-$20 which will get anywhere from 4-6 callers. I've started to just call with with big pairs - suited one gappers. Like dumping chips into the pot pre-flop isn't a good play.

Thing is if you happen to catch some run good you're getting paid but card dead you can't make a nickel.

If that's the case, then position becomes king. The best part of HOC is the Bobby Hoff interview where he describes players in deep games that would fold AK in the UTG, but play ATC on the button. I don't think one has to go that far, but there's a message on how important being last to act is deep post flop.

You should def not avoid games like that. I understand that it can be boring and frustrating for hours at a time when you don't get any cards, but all you need is 1 big pot to get all your bleeding back plus more. Just fold OOP, play a lot of hands IP. And when you get a hand, don't be afraid to commit your stack to it. Push every hand hard. Instead of betting 3/4 pot, overbet pots. People will still call you with draws. Games like that are high variance, but hugely +EV.
