You're free and clear for the rest of the evening because I have to go play the pokers now. Please clean up before I get back.

So glad this forum got rolling. I am coming from a live lHE background as prob some here are as well. While the Limit to NL forum has some really great strat advice, it just doesnt get that much traffic/replies from what I have experienced. But, the replies are always very solid there. Really looking forward to posting/commenting on some So Cal room hands since I play a fair amount of live NL around here. There are several games round here: 3/5 $300 max, 2/3 $300 max, 3/5 $200 max, 5/5 $300 to $1.5k, 2/2 $100 max and some others as well. Granted some of them(the lowest ones) are just flat out 2 street games, but some of them you can actually play more than just raise and get it in on the flop etc.

I have always felt that a lot of the replies that I got in the past on various nl forums with some of the live hands were replies such as "shove" "I shove this all day" or "I snap call" and that was it. Nothing to back it up at all.

Awesome. Me too. But I have to tell you that I don't think I'm going to draw straws for the bill. My wife would kill me.

Yeah, as far as I can tell, that sort of reply has really been at the core of watering down 2+2 from its glory days right before I joined.

However, I tend to have the opposite problem in hand discussions....

So what happened to the AC Regs thread or the LV Regs thread?

i'm curious which of you jerks i see all the time is a 2p2'er at the borgata or the taj or the ceasars etc.

please take the use of "jerks" in the most complimentary way possible.

I'm not as keen to have these threads since I've taken in jlocdog's and other's input.

I'm still in water it and see what grows mode around these parts though. So go for it if you want to. Later, if I need to, I can always take out the weed-whacker.

i hadnt yet read others input on it - i'll go with the crowd on this then. i dont think its necessary but it would make table selection easier if i know who to avoid

of the regs i see - some are pretty predictable. they nuthug because they dont have to push any edges. others just seem to have an infinite bankroll and are just there all the time.

then there's the dangerous regs who i avoid. some of them are only there fridays. some i see any day im there too.

Just ran my FH into quads at Commerce and didn't get stacked. In Jesse8888's words, "superb"

I am one of the jerks you will see over the next few months. I usually only get to the Borgata about twice a month....but over the next couple of months....my wife & daughter have several dance competitions to attend....which should free up some extra days for me to get down there....I'll be playin' 2-5.

Thanks for teh compliment.

Nah. He did actually, I must confess. I bet all the way to the river and he min-raised. I asked him if he had it. And I just knew he did by his response.

Good point about the 2n. I just couldn't figure out what you were implying.

just want to remind myself that when somebody limp reraises, no matter what the position, THEY ALWAYS HAVE ACES SO STOP SHOVING THINKING THAT THEY'RE JUST MAKING A PLAY YOU IDIOT!!!

that was cathartic

Phil Gordon agrees. Beware the min raise.

Just a quick post to point out to those of you who left uFR with the creation of this forum that we have a concept of the week this week from a magician who shows (in a you tube video) how to detect a cheater in a live game. It's great stuff.

It's ****ing terrifying!

It also shows how sharp guys like Doyle, Bobby Hoff, Amarillo Slim, etc. had to be back when one mostly played self-dealt games.

It also reminded of years ago when Caesars had a dinner magic theater. You'd have someone entertain you with some simple magic during dinner, then break into groups to see some real pros. The card guy was amazing. He tore up a card and put the three pieces back together, leaving the fourth with the innocent bystander. I told my wife, "I can figure out how he could do it(the piece wasn't ripped exactly the same way as the person who did it), but I didn't see him make the switch." High respect for someone with these skills, just don't want to play poker with them.

I am glad that there is a forum for live poker. I really learn a lot about how live players think at these stakes. Some of the hands are really interesting and there have been some good discussions about them. In general, there are good ideas being circulated around here.

After reading some recent posts, I would like to ask that people refrain from posting hands about coolers and bad beats. There is a Bad Beats, Brag, Variance forum for this. Coolers and bad beats provide little or no strategical or educational value. They are just a part of poker and it happens to everyone. These hands include - "folding top set", "folding the 2nd nuts on the flop", "folding AA with less than 50bb".

Now, there are times when folding a great hand is correct. These usually involve deep stacks and boards that may provide difficulty for someone. But folding 88 on a 864r board for 100bb is just not possible. If villain shows up with 75 and you lose - so be it. Don't be results-oriented. Villain could easily show up with 66 in this spot.

I don't mean to moderate the forum (KurtSF does a good job with it), but I don't want this forum to turn into a beats and brag forum. It is about strategy and learning concepts. There are so many (countless) number of interesting situations that you encounter every session. Post a hand about a bluff you made or a call/c-bet that you were unsure about - even if it was only a 20bb pot. Interesting hands don't have to involve big pots and big hands. TBH, most interesting hands/spots don't involve big hands/big pots. I understand that big pots are psychologically salient, but it is important as developing poker players (which is why I assume you post on 2p2) to think about each aspect of the game.

Anyways, I'm basically tilting because school work is preventing me from grinding. This is first day in 2 months that I haven't played and I'm going through withdrawal. Regardless, I'm really glad as a online and live grinder that I can talk strategy in both arenas on the same site. I hope that we can continue some of the great discussions/threads. Good luck!
