Quick anecdotes from a live session I just played:

Whoever said live fish don't overbet is full of it.

In the same game, one villain checked back 885, two suit, 3way flop, check through with me in mid position, turn an offsuit A, check check, bet, first guy folds, I call, pot is $20 or something small, on the river Ko, he overbets $60 to bluff me off an ace. I tank called A9 and he showed random air.

Hours later, another fish, 4 handed, we're 2.5k-3k effective. We moved stakes up to playing roughly 2/3 with semi-consistent straddle. I was CO/UTG with Mississippi straddle, call, call, I call and villain raises to about $40 which was semi standard. The blinds fold and I call.

Headsup flop. Board is J55 or something, I check and he bets for almost pot, I call. Turn is a 6 or something similar. I check and he checks back. River is a brick, something like a deuce. I check, and he bets $750 into a $250 pot. I tank/call with KJ and he shows air.

Conventional wisdom be damned.

I also check/raised about five times this session, getting caught twice, one in a tiny $30~ pot, and another where I got 3bet shipped on. Made quite a profit on these bluffs overall.

Oh, I also made a hero call on a board like J9x rainbow, turn is a brick bringing a backdoor spade draw, and river low spade. Action went as so: I bet flop, he calls, turn brick I check, he checks, river brick I bet $80 into about $60 for value with A9. I wanted to rep a bad bluff (river was a "scare card that isn't a scare card", and he's seen me bluff and overbet bluff a lot) so I figured he'd call me down light with all lower pairs which he is peeling with EXTREME liberty.

He suddenly raises me 3x to $250. Flush was bd, so he had to have a flop hand like T8 QK none of which hit, and if he turned an fd this player would bet for sure. I tank thinking his line makes no sense as any two pair would bet and if he rivered it or a set he would not be raising for value because he's super stationy but shuts down when bets are big and pot controls, and he also seemed a bit worried about a call because he kept staring at me and holding his cards as if ready to turn them over, etc etc.

I tank and call the $250. He moans loudly, and I thought SHIP IT, but then he tables TT for a better pair turned into a bluff.

Fun game though.

I blame Venice for messing up his pick. Let's just pretend he was dyslexic, and wanted 24.

nope... venice is out. We as professional powerball players do not need his negativity. The only way we have an advanatage over the state(s) lottery is to have positive energy.

Slow, stalled. My goal has been two fold, get up to date and re-certify in the process. So I have spent the last 4 weeks getting "real world" comfortable with IPv6. It is a big change from the current and will be common place sooner rather than later, we will run out of Internet IP's using the IPv4 standard in about 250 days. So I am pretty comfortable now, have it running at home, and feel comfortable setting it up for a production business.

I kind of expect by this time next year if your presence on the Internet does not support IPv6 you will be left behind. It becomes a self powering cycle, some popular new service, app, site only runs on IPv6, so people start demanding IPv6 from their service providers, more people only get IPv6 so more sites support IPv6.

Many of the big boys have already made the shift, Google, Youtube, Facebook, etc, etc all already have IPv6 access.

The "OMG" moment for me was finding out that MS is ahead of the game for IPv6 deployment compared to Linux. MS has a everything in place, ready to use, easy to use, well documented, while Linux has the tools, its not what I would call "ready for prime time", e.g. DHCPv6 is standard in Win2K8 server, but to get the version that fully supports IPv6 on Linux you have to compile it from source code because the prepackaged "stable/trusted" version doesn't support IPv6, and good luck in finding detailed instructions on configuration or working examples. Oh and the Linux version can't do both at the same time, while the MS server can. Sad.

Played 1/2 for the first time in awhile, super action game but I got coolered pretty hard a few times. Eventually worked my way up to even when in for a $1000. Then I got in a $2000 pot where I flopped top set against the top two of the only player at the table who had me covered and got it in the turn with him stone dead, so I now have roughly a $210 hourly in 1/2 this year so far, easy game.

put in my first 7.5-hour session since a 3 month break. man oh man does 3 months of spending a couple hours a day on 2p2 and reading poker books make a difference!

it really hits you when you haven't played at all in that period. i felt so much more clarity at the table. people's ranges were so much less murky to me and i knew what to look for and think about so much more than before.

great table. broke even b/c i ran way under EV and also made a couple of errors here and there

i just love hearing this live nl:

"how much is that?" said to dealer when it is plainly obvious what the bet is size

I'd also like to publicly thank tv poker. Live players love to float with crop, play dominated hands out of pos, call raises oop with dom hands and gen just play lots of trashy hands cuz they see it on the tube.

Spoiler:
GENIUS

Man O Man... had a horrible session last night. AA lost twice all in pre flop to QJdd running flush, and AK flop a King with flush draw hit another King on river. AK run into KK. QQ runs into a KK3 board two players have a King in hand. Flop TPTK guy calls my raise all in cold with a flush draw. We run it twice he hits flush first time, then hits a king second time for bigger pair. Last hand of night playing pretty short guy on button raises, I have him slightly covered, he's been doing it all night. I shove (he has like $75, me only a little more... I was desperate.. sigh.. ) I have A9ss... he calls. Flop J 10 9 turn 2.. river 8... he says I have a straight... shows Q2o. Lots of other stuff in between. All happened within 2 hour time frame. In a six hour time frame (played two different games) I had AA 6 times. And I came out in the red. KK beat up on. QQ never worked.

Had huge hands all night, a night you dream about having, and they all fell down....

All of that to say this:

Listening to Chris Cornell iTunes essentials right now and it is making everything feel perfectly fine!
