Just because all the other cool forums have one.

Leaving in 45 minutes to go play a couple of donkaments at the local card room.

Well played venice!

I also welcome "regulars" threads for major poker markets, such as a Vegas Regs thread or AC Regs thread. I'll start working on a FAQ, and probably open a suggestions box for at least a few months while we're building.

I assume we'll need a BBV thread too, heh.

Cool forum idea. Small stakes live players definitely need a place to post hands because they won't get much good advice in online forums. I can't believe it took us this long to get this created.

I'd just steal CMAR's and modify it a bit for the FAQs. The "XXX" regs thread is going to be a bit tricky and probably needs some clarification from the Admins. 2+2 generally discourages naming live people in a chat thread who aren't famous, but allows all sorts of chat about on-line players (OK, MartinK1979 doesn't count anymore because he is POY in the micros). Perhaps nicknames or first names and a short description would be OK.

A BBV thread will have to happen eventually.

I think I'll wait for the first "bacon" style thread, then just retitle it.

This.

I sent a message to Rapini to post an announcement in B & M.

I'm mainly a SS online player, but I play more live than most of the online SS players on 2+2. Hopefully we get some decent discussion from people that play a lot of live poker.

Live regs ITT IMO

And an announcement post was moved to the monthly crap thread faster than the speed of light... Makes one wonder what is on some of peoples minds at time.

I like this a ton, I've been a loud advocate of it for awhile. Ironically this forum just started - while I've posted a good deal of live hands in the past, now I don't play as often and rarely post my own anymore. I'll search the recent memory banks and try and add anything interesting that comes up, and be sure to include things from upcoming sessions.

I object to the adjectives. Some of our "low stakes" 1/2 games will play pots that are much larger than what's posted in the medium stakes poker thread.

I don't understand... can you explain?

I specifically picked "low" as "micro", "small", "medium" have such technical and specific definitions (2nl-50nl, 100-200nl, etc.). These are the small games in the pokerroom after all, so I though low-stakes was appropriate.

I don't understand either. How is 'low' any more or less specific whene live play has not defined the categories that you listed.

low stake everything up until 5-10? 5-10 25-50 midstakes 50-100+ highstakes?

I think we should definitely include 5/10 hands. I play 5/10 live and it usually plays as easy or easier than 100NL online.

5/5 and above are covered by the Mid-High Full Ring forum.

I expect 90% of hands posted in this forum to be 1/2 and 2/5. The rest being 1/3, 2/3, 2/4, 3/5, and of course various smaller structures.

It has less to do with how they play, and more to do with carving out a place for the most popular live games to be discussed.

Yep 5/10 should be here too. Not all 5/10 games are equal though, there is a huge difference between the LA games with their crazy buy-ins and say the 5/10 upcapped game at the V or the W.

What is your opinion of the average 5/10 game at the Venetian? I'm heading back there in a few weeks.
04-24-2010 , 08:25 PM
Wow amazing, I didn't think a forum section like this would ever exist. Congrats to whomever managed it. I have not had many hands to post recently but I'll try to contribute and give advice on posts here!

I haven't put enough time in recent history to really comment. The couple of times I played at the V last year were nice. There was a good mix of players from the random tourist, local action players and some solids mixed in. I like to play deep so for me in LV it's either 5/10 at the Wynn or at the V.

Okay thanks for the info. I'll probably start out playing 2/5 and move up accordingly. I haven't played much at the Venetian, usually stick to the Bellagio when I'm in town, but I've heard lots of good stuff. I've heard some positive things about the Aria room and may check it out.

Anyone ever play @ LC? Someone once told me that the 5-10 game is far better on friday/weekends than the 3-5 game, and during the week the reverse is true...any truth to this?

The V is my home court! I play there and when its a little too "tough" (aka nitty) I go over to PH to tear up that game. V is usually reggy and nitty early in the day M-W/ sometimes Thursday. Anywhere from 3-5 it gets better.

If you want soft go to PH. Wiiiiiiiiiii

I'm going to be there Fri-Mon, so I'll get the weekend crowd. I've played some 1/2 for fun at PH..... no doubt the play is terrible, which is great. I don't like where their poker room is located though. Same deal with MGM Grand - tons of 1/2 tables, but I don't like the location.

In the thread on the ATF forum, it was noted that at 5/10 and above, live players don't seem to have an issue posting in the MS/HS forums. At that level, most players have experience in both worlds and can give appropriate advice. It was felt that the micro players just didn't have the experience live to be able to give good advice.

FWIW, I disagree, but I was a live player long before playing on-line so I admit that I probably filter out those posters that I know can't have much live experience.
