Last night I was asked to run a 5k on May 19th. I was feeling froggy so I said yes. I've never ran a 5k and have not gone for a run in a long time. Any training tips?

I'm thinking of just doing the C25K (couch to 5k) program, starting at week 1.

Yeah that should be fine to get you started. I used similar programs for my first tri and half marathon.

Best advice I have to give is to always leave something in the tank. It sucks to run until exhaustion and it isn't motivating for me. But it's extremely motivating for me to feel like I could have kept going, and it keeps me excited for my next run bc I want to push myself a bit further than last time.

Also, ive noticed that a lot of programs will say "you should be at conversation pace" meaning you can comfortably talk and run. I've found this to be very difficult when I first started because even a light jog got me winded. So dont be discouraged by that.

So why not do an obstacle course and diving

But seriously I've always used a linear approach to running, just adding .1 per day.

Recorded my biggest loss of the year tonight in poker..have the desire to go off the rails but going to use tomorrow's cheat day to let loose and then get back on track Sunday.
