Where is your race? What length are you doing?

I want to do the tri but not sure if my worn out rotator cuff can handle the swim. Just doing the spring Duathlon as a starter...2.8 mile run, 20 km bike, 2.8 mile run. Finishing upright is the goal.

Meh do what you like, obviously, but I know a lot of people with lives devastated by eating disorders and body image and weight issues, so I'm keen on discouraging the obsession with weight. Feel free to ignore and make fun of course but eeven if you think it's condescending, I actually do mean well.

Yea I am sure you do. Don't wish those disorders on anyone. But the overwhelming thinking is that weight controls serious, and deadly health risks. Carrying weight a certain way effects everything from heart disease to kidney/liver functions. While obsessing about ones weight can be a serious disorder, those people have other issues causing it. Those of us that see weight gain as unhealthy also see our A1C do down as the weight drops. Being a healthy weight is optimal.

Hey everyone the fun vacuum is here!

ITT overweight people try to get to healthier weights to better their lives and someone tries to discourage them from doing so.

I'm the second lightest one in this thread (actually probably third, I'm guessing Sol is also lighter) and yet I'll probably be dead before any of you due to my horrible eating habits.

Well I can one up you, even though I do think your mind is in the right place. I sleep with someone that works with morbidly obese patients on a daily basis. Their need to focus on their weight has more to do with them wanting to be able to walk 10 steps in a row, or being able to pick their kids up when they fall down, or fit into a chair at a movie or on a plane. not to mention live another 2 years. Almost all these patients have a mental illness, or an abuse reason for being this large. The people you know who have the eating disorder are in the same boat. It IS a mental illness. Treat that first.

I don't get it, just eat healthier and work out then. That's great. Why measure it with weight? Weight only has been proven to be a bad way to measure healthiness or progress of it. People with obesity or eating problems who approach it that way more often relapse.

Because *shocker* the people ITT tend to be goal-oriented and high-achievers and would like to attach goals behind their processes. It provides a roadmap to achieve the goal of "health" and can give valuable feedback into their progress.

Be honest: why did you even bother to post ITT initially?

Re: *OFFICIAL* LLSNL Weight Loss Thread

I weighed in on Sun at 92.3kg at 6ft. Which is approx 201lbs for the metrically challenged and is the heaviest ever for me.

I will lose 7kg/15lb in a month by means of no alcohol, no sugary snacks or drinks, no fries, very few complex carbs and a slight reduction in portion size and overall volume of food

Wifey has given me a macronutrient balanced approach to meals which I will use as a guide, if not to exact amounts.

Will keep exercising in the normal way, which is heavyish weights 4-5 times a week, but intend to walk up and down the 5 flights of stairs to my office a few times a day and also do a 15-20 min walk each lunchtime. Also have a **** load of work to do in my yard over the weekends
