Hello Forum

As I am sure everyone in this forum is aware, the people that make up your local game regularly change. Some move up to higher levels, some go to online, and some happen to eliminate themselves from the player pool with some plays that are confusing at best, downright idiotic at worst... This is a smilar concept to the Darwin Awards, where people manage to eliminate themsevles from the gene pool with ideas that are -EV...

The Darwin Awards in real life

However, we are looking at what people do on the felt to eliminate themselves of the poker playing pool. I have two incidents from today... both from 2/3NL

The first Darwin Award Candidate (DAC) is in the CO. The HJ raises to 15, CO calls, the rest fold...

FLOP: 963r. Check check

TURN: 6. Check check

RIVER: 3. HJ bets 10, the CO calls. HJ turns over 22. CO mucks

---------------------------------------------------

The other hand. HJ from the other hand gets all in on the flop of Qc8s2c with two clubs. BB is allin and shows red KK... Turn is a red 2, the river a red 8... HJ fumes at missing his big draw, shows the busted flush draw, and mucks J8

By the way, this thread is an imitation of what was originally started on the Low Stakes LHE forum by the gentleman Leo Doc...

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/17...ead-lc-722349/

Please post away stories of some great Darwin Award candidates... Be it bad play, a bad muck, a bad call with the nut low, whatever it is, fire away...

Live 2/3

Villian knows me, but Im not sure what light he holds me in. I dont know him from a bar of soap...

There is a bigger thread to come based on this night, but anyway, the OMGWTFBBQ hand...

There are 3 limpers and I overlimp in the HJ with 45cc. Villian is in the CO and raises to 12. Almost everyone calls and I call closing the action.

Flop 845r (pot somewhere around 70-80) maybe 6 runners or so...

Checks to me and I check. Villian bets 35, one call. I raise to 150 total. Villian tanks. He asks me what do I have, I have been pretty tight etc... He announces that I have a straight, then calls... Other person folds... I turn over my hand, he announces "KNEW IT" almost jubilantly...He turns over T8o... Gets there obv on the river. Ship the man $400...

last night, my first time back to live poker. Been grinding online where people play with about 1/3 of their brain.

UTG raises to $10
UTG+1 calls
MP raises to $25
hero folds
sb raises to $50
bb folds, utg calls, utg+1 calls, mp calls.

Flop 6/7/9
UTG checks, UTG+1 bets $50, MP raises to 100, SB calls, UTG +1 moves all in , MP moves all in, SB calls.

pot was about $700

UTG+1 shows AA, MP shows TT
Spoiler:
SB shows 5/8o
LOL WAT? 4bet on the sb with 5/8o

The bad beat jackpot got hit where I play for over $100K. The losing/big winning hand was quad 3s. Except the person who hit it was playing 83o, and the 8 played as a kicker, thus meeting the "both hole cards" requirement. Lost to a tiny straight flush. Ain't that something? Some dude won $50K with 83o at 1/2 NL.

LOL hand from last night, where thankfully I am not involved...

2/3 Live, late at night...

Preflop is limped in maybe 7 ways. The main players in this hand are MP1, mp2 and the HJ

MP1 is an unknown who is a drunk who plays blackjack. He had been at my limit table before and was clueless, as seen in this hand. His favourite line being, can I raise when checked to him, and then trying to checkraise himself, as well as bet/raise himself...

MP2 is another newbie I havent seen before. He is in seat 10 and has had his cards mucked a few times, and as such is in a bit of an angry mood. He has a stack of around 350 because he has been a bit lucky

HJ is a semi-reg, and actually the villian in my thread with top set with a bad turn card hand... For those who didnt see it, basically I raise KK and he calls in position. Flop KQx with two spades, he calls half pot... Turn is the Ts and I check, and he donk shoves for double pot. The cliffs to that thread was that I called and the river was a blank. He shows red AA and I ship it... Until that hand I had seen him as a good player, but after that hand and this one ugh...

Anyway, the preflop action is limped in a few places and I rap the BB with maybe 7 high... Flop QJJ with two spades. Checks to MP1, who asks if he can raise. He sticks out 55... MP2 thinks about it, and slowly makes the call... HJ makes the ninja minraise vs two players... MP1 calls and MP2 calls...

Turn is a queen, and HJ looks disgusted... MP1 bets 30 with 4 behind. MP2 minraises to 60... HJ shows his hand to his neighbour, obviously as an "how sick is that turn card" before I can only assuming folding Jx but nope, he calls...

The river is dealt before MP1 can call off the last $4. In the calamity MP2 actually ends up checking the river, which was IIRC an offsuit deuce... HJ shoves for around 130. MP2 snap calls...

HANDS

Spoiler:
MP1: TT
MP2: Q8
HJ: J7

Actually MP2 in a weird way absolutely owned HJ's soul in this hand, but nevertheless wp...

I am on the button with QQ and about 178

3 limps to me and I raise to 15. I did this for 2 reasons. MP player who closed betting is very loose and likes to gamble for small raises. 15 I felt was the right price to keep him in the pot. Also, table was playing pretty tight and limpers were folding pre. My image is tight, IMO, but I still get the SB and 2 other callers.

($63) Q 6 4

SB goes all in for 105, fold, call(!)
MP caller has me covered.

I come over the top all in for 163.

MP2 calls.

Hands: 44 and 85 I have 75% equity.

turn 4, river K and I win a small side pot. Never lost a pot to a 2 outer live before, so I had to post it here.

Just image the point in the future when you will be able to truly have a laugh over a beat like that. It feels so much better than feeling so dumped on.

I was playing 1/2 the other night at a GREAT table. It was my last night in Vegas, so I was just going to buy in once and see how it goes. I currently have about $300 in front of me.

4 limps
villain raises to $7 from CO
I spot AA and three bet to $27 from BU
old man coffee calls $27
I stare at the felt and listen as villain shuffles chips and...
Spoiler:
villain 4bets to $57
OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG
I 5bet to $127
old man coffee folds
villain 6bet shoves all in for $300
I super-duper snap call and show my aces praying to see KK and not the other AA
Spoiler:
villain turns up 99
OMGOMGOMGOMG
Spoiler:
9 hits on the flop obviously
Spoiler:
and yes, I rebought because there was no way I'm leaving THAT table

I had one like that at the V a couple weeks ago, but Mr RR had JJ and I had KK. Mine held up, the funny part was being berated for the next 10 minutes with "How could you call that with THAT!" the cry of a touradonk thinking his "image" could force the situation.

I don't think I've ever 6-bet or been 6-bet live...and surely not with only 150bb! That itself is a brag/beat imo.

Interesting new thread...

here's a contribution from a hand last night (1/3 NL). Fortunately, I was able to fold my SB (with 4/7o)...

UTG, MP and BB all limp/check and see a flop of:

345

everyone checks the flop. Turn is the J and all hell breaks loose. BB bets $15... UTG raises to $35... MP raises to $75... BB 5-bets it to $275... UTG ships it all in for about $750. MP calls and BB insta-calls.

the hands?

BB: 67
UTG: 26
MP: A2

River bricks out. BB pulls in just under $2k on the craziest cooler I will see for weeks.

bb 5 betting two other players is sick seriously, reminds me of a similar hand with the same flop check, maybe even the same board, with a wheel, 76o who raised utg pf, a set and an up and down with fd....

FYP

But in all honestly a truly sick hand. I am not sure I'd be calling there if I was MP tho, that's a pretty nasty spot.

HAND 1: 2/5 NL at a wild table.

UTG raises to $15
2 calls
Hero calls in c/o with 5-5 ($450 behind)
BB raises to $50
UTG re-pops for $200
1 fold
1 all-in which covered me
Hero folds (actually thought about calling with that many raises...thinking big cards were all out??)
BB and UTG both go all-in (pot now well over $2k)

FLOP - 5-5-2

HAND 2: 6 days later - 2/5 NL

UTG +1 raises to $15
MP calls
Hero calls in c/o with 2-2 ($350 behind)
Button calls

FLOP: 2-2-3

UTG +1 bets $20
MP raises to $80
Hero smooth calls
Button calls
UTG +1 calls

TURN: 2-2-3 (A)

UTG +1 checks
MP bets $100
Hero smooth calls
Button calls
UTG +1 calls

RIVER: 2-2-3-A (3)

UTG +1 checks
MP checks
Hero pushes all-in ($170)
Button calls all-in for less than $170
UTG +1 folds
MP folds

Before flipping the cards, button says to Hero "I wish I had more chips."

Button flips 3-3.
