1/2 game on a Friday night. Nitty, tough game that I should have left to find a better friday night game. Just sat down one orbit ago and I usually don't get involved right away.

Hero: KhJh in late position.

V1: Tight nit by the looks of him. Middle aged white guy, seems nitty.
$250 in chips

V2: middle aged black guy, 300 in chips. He is wearing a hoodie and drinking a shirley temple. I don't know if he knows what he is doing or not.

V3: Semi attractive woman with accent. About 300 in chips.

I don't have many reads on the table. I forget how I figured V1 was nitty, but I was pretty sure of it.

V1 open raises from middle position to $15. V2 calls. I call. V3 on the button calls. 4 way pot.

Pot is $60.

Flop comes Ah 4h 4x

I have nut flush draw with pair on board.

V1 checks. V2 bets out $17. I call. Everyone else folds.

Turn: 8h

V2 bets $50. I tank call.

River: 8x

V2 puts me all in, about $130

Hero?

After V's turn bet, I would put V's range from most likely to least likely as: smaller flush, Axh, A8, 4x. The river all-in is a bit worrying. He could by spazzing out with an Ace or a smaller flush. Can you describe how he went all in on the river?

You lose to A8 and 4x, but since those are the least likely in his range (imho), I think I would make the call on the river.

I would like to point out though, that I think raising the turn is best. I think going all in on the turn is really the only play as there can be some gross river cards or cards that kill your action. You also do not have much behind anyway, so I think allin is best.

We lose to 8x/4x etc.; we lose to everything.

I think if we're going to make a very loose pre-flop call, and hit the nut flush it's hard to fold even though we're probably behind 90+% of the time.

Ultimately we should have probably folded much earlier in the hand somewhere.

Easy call IMO. I expect V to have Ax or a worse flush a lot here.

A few more reasons to call:

1) As you mentioned, V2 may or may not know what he's doing.
2) V2's line doesn't make much sense with a 4. Why bet a quarter of the pot with a flush draw and A high flop if you have a 4? Seems more like the betting action of an A.

What 8x hands are betting the flop? Also, most players with 4x will slowplay and check the flop.

my logic was he had quad 4s or an ace.

The river jam confused the hell out of me but I called.

Spoiler:

He had AA

Cry, call, then cry some more.

Other than folding pre, I don't see how we could fold this. Maybe with a river soul read since he puts you AI on a double paired board...

But I still prefer my cry/call/cry line.

Yeah I don't really like my call preflop. I hate KJ in general. I think the fact that it was suited, and that I came from a long day of work looking to play some poker. Gotta be more patient
