1/3 NL Joliet Harrahs

The game has been running for some time and its about 3am. The table was playing super well but most of the super recs are busto by now and the table is down to 6 players. H (22yr white guy) is sun running very hot and is up to ~1.2k and has a image to really only make it to the river with the nuts. V (30s white guy) in question has been playing tight but completely face up. Bet when he has it, check when he doesn't.

HH: The exact hand before vs V in question: H(1.5k) V(~1k)

Pre: H raises in CO to $10 w/ KJ, V min 3! to 20$ in BTN, blinds fold, H calls
Flop($44): 345 H cks,V cks
Turn($44): 3456 H bets $30, V calls
River($104): 34569 H bets $75, and gets snapped called. I can not overemphasize how quickly I was called here. H "Thats not good". V turns over AQ

V will then go on to tell me he just had a solid read and giving me instructions on the hand, whatever really not listening other than the fact he just snapped me with A high on that board.
Very Next hand dealt

Pre: H(covers) raises to $10 in HJ w/ 99 V(~1.2k) makes it $20 again and says "Don't try it again", BB cold calls, H calls
Flop($61): 239 BB cks, H cks, V bets $50, BB folds, H calls (looking back I would've preferred a raise considering he always had it when he bet)
Turn($161): 2392 H cks, V bets $150, H calls
River($461): 23922 H cks, V now bets $100(leaving him with roughly $850-$900) then says "Now you can think you can bluff me" H raises to ?????

Looking back I am not happy with how I played this hand. I think raising on earlier streets would be the best line given the dynamics but I expected a normal bet on the river to jam over. Then again call, call, raise looks much stronger than raise, bet, bet I think. But this player didnt seem to in tune with dynamics.

Spoiler:
H did consider jamming but settled on $350. After some thought and playing with chips V called. V then is visibly upset and claims to have 33 which I do not buy. Maybe TT-AA

Yeah I think you lost a ton of value here given gameflow dynamics on this one. I would have led flop and raise turn seemingly at random so that he thinks you are trying to bully again. And if really has a value hand, if you do those things early, you can shove river and he will call.

Sometimes its hard though to stop for sec and think about the previous hand and how that may affect V's psyche for this hand. Good lesson for all of us to expect to flop a nut hand at any time and be prepared to extract max value whenever it happens.

I think the hand was played fine to this decision point. Not a fan of check raising flop, let him keep value betting worse or bluffing his A high. He stays polarized on later streets so just let him keep value betting worse and bluffing if he has nothing.

Have not read spoiler but I like a pretty enormous raise given he has QQ-AA or bluffs and is unlikely to fold given the ridiculous AQ hand. I don't know the perfect amount he would call but I'd tank some and make it $580 in a vacuum.

Given game flow I would have said on the flop, "If I call do you want to check it down?" After he says no I would check the turn
and as he goes to bet I would say, "be careful."

Then check jam river.

Given the HH and dynamic I would love to donk this flop. It's almost like the original raiser was on your team, helping induce action behind. But given we checked I would never x/r this dry flop. I would absolutely x/r turn to $400ish after he double barrels and the hearts show back door. He's absolutely never folding. Then we can jam river and likely get paid off again.

The other mistake you made before the hand is that the villain was telling you exactly how he plays and reads people and you decided not to listen because you were tilted. If a villain wants to go into detail about how they play, you should be all ears. Feel free to say, "wow, that's a great play" in the middle. Don't let that opportunity slip away again.

On second thought I do prefer a turn c/r, it makes his life a lot more difficult with the obvious overpair or backdoor fd.

Grunch

Hand seems pretty std. i would x/r very big otr

If you want to look fos, i’d x/r otf and blast off. X/c flop x/r is the worst line and is basically telling him you have the nuts

After Seeing spoiler: i hate your sizing otr. You missed a lot of value

Seems obv given results, but how you didn't jam this river is beyond me, especially with your image and the V's talk about bluffing him
