Quick question: What excuse do u give when u reload to max. I play in a 1/2 game with $500 max buyin and I am constantly reloading to $500. What excuse to u give when someone at the table asks u why u r reloading?

Until now I have said "I like to play deep" or "I like to cover" but I feel that these statements are tapping the tank a bit.

Why are you buying in for 500 in a 1/2 game? Makes no sense, you should be playing 2/5.

But your increasing your variance buying in for 250bbs. You will have 2/5 variance at 1/2.

How many people buyin for 500, are you the only one? It just sounds wierd if fish are buying in that deep. I just can't imagine it.

Why does it matter how much he buys in as long as he covers the fish?

I am also increasing my hourly by buying in deep. Like I also said earlier, I can afford to play 5/10 and higher with my BR. Fish generally dont buyin deep but many continue playing once they double or triple up. Late night Friday and Saturday nights it is not uncommon to have a 8 handed table where the average stack is $1K and $25 "roll'ems" where everyone participates are not uncommon. Alot of times a fish will lose his $200 buyin, get very angry, buyin for $500 and spew it all over the table. There are a few other regulars who also buyin for $500.

edit: a 1/2 game with "table stakes" maximum buyin would be a dream game for me imo.

Most people play deepstacks ****ty. When your so deep and everyone is short the fish have the advantage unless you are 3betting relentlessly.

My point is, that we play low stakes deep stacks are not an advantage. Unless you know what your doing. Like 3betting light getting villains to make mistakes in 3bet pots, R/F for value, double barreling and betting draws aggressively. If your not doing any of that a deep stack is not your friend.

If your sitting on 250bbs and just 2betting to 20/25 then you open yourself up to lose big pots of your money. Especially vs bad players, you will make light calls and don't b/f or r/f because your priced in.

Huh? Didn't drink your morning coffee or something?

Why would it matter if you're sitting on $1 million and the fish is sitting on $200. It's still a $200 effective game.

I completly disagree with u sir. Most people do play terribly with deep stacks, but I feel that I am very good with a deep stack (I can make folds which most people can't make and I almost always get max value). The fact that most people play terrible with a deep stack is one of the reasons I buyin deep, people just spew money deep alot. I dont feel like arguing about the strategy part (I agree with SeaULater), but I have played with a deep stack in both shortstack and deep stack games and I have a beat both with a significant hourly that wouldnt be possible if I had a short-stack.

Hands like this demonstrate why having a deep stack is advantagous if u know how to play it

Stacks
Hero (CO): $800
Villain (Straddle for $5): Covers

Hero is dealt KTo
2 callers, Hero calls, blinds call, Villain checks

Flop is TT4ss (pot=$30)
Villain donks $10, MP calls, Hero raises to $40, Villain calls, MP calls

Turn is a 4
checks around

River is a Ks (pot=$150)
Villain leads for $150, MP folds, Hero raises to $400, Villain ships for $755, Hero calls

Villain shows T9o and hero scoops
My raising range OTR is KT and quads exclusivly. Villain had 0 equity vs my range so he pretty much gave me a $600 donation. This would not be possible if I did not buyin deep.

Yeah those guys are horrible. I said nevermind because you said effective stacks are always deep. Which really took away from my argument. I would buyin deep too.

Whenever I reload to the max I tell anyone who is listening that I feel a big hand coming on

just out of curiosity, will your line be any different on a 9 river?

When this player pots it 3 ways he always has a T or occasionally a bluff. If he had a 4 he would bet less. Also this player would never call my river raise with a 4. Me and this player have quite a bit of history (we play with each other atleat 5 hours a week, every week tho I havent seen him recently, he might be busto).

I forgot to comment on limping K10o with deep stacks. Its a really bad play. But if your getting paid off like this then it doesn't matter players will never exploit you.

I agree that its bad play usually. TBH I usually raise preflop if this spot but the table was such that if I raise to $30, i will get 4+ callers (lol, live poker). Since everyone had deep stacks and many of the people were pretty bad I thought lets just see a cheap flop and hope I bink.

Yeah it doesn't matter when players are bad as long as you play standard postflop.

You have a good game sir, I'm a little jealous lol.

I'm on my phone so I can't see your location. Where do you play at?

Stay away from plo, your rolled for 5/10 so you just need to take a vegas trip everyonce in awhile.

Also, wait for online to come back.

Take it easy stay away from that plo, too many suckouts variance is super high.

I am from Alberta, Canada. I am not old enough to go to Vegas (the legal age here is 18). I don't play much online altho I could, I just dont find it fun anymore +the games are alot tougher. I know that PLO varience is super high, thats one of the reasons that I don't play it. My ex-coach is a mid to high stakes NLHE and PLO player (he coached my at NLHE) and he told me about the swings in PLO and showed me his graphs, its not a game I want to play.

BTW regs at my local casino call PLO "bingo"
