Hero has been playing at the table for a while and it is up about 250. Stack 500€. Table is full of recreational players.

Villain UTG limp
UTG+1 limp
UTG+2
CO limp
Hero BTN spills J8s limp
Blinds play

Flop (14€): J85 rainbow
UTG bets 8 folds to Hero
Hero raises 26
Everyone folds but Villain

Turn (66€): 4
Villain bets out 40
Hero calls

River (146€): 3
Villain bets 80
Hero tanks and calls

Villain shows AA.

I know the worst part is the limp preflop but I tend to mix my strategy in a live environment especially in late positions. So granted that is questionable, what would you have done on the river?

To get constructive feedback you need to give villain stack size and not reveal the last hero action and not reveal the results.

also this is a snap call on river, you're beat by only 67 and you have top two?

Well, it's not a fold, that's for sure.

The only reason to tank is if you think you can raise. Vs a few specific player types in my games this is a slam dunk small raise spot and against everyone else its a snap call.

The only hands I am really worried about are 67 and 55 and heavily discounted 88 as I think most people are opening that hand. The player types I raise against are the habitual limpers that basically limp all suited hands so they have a few worse two pair combos and are calling off with a all of their suited Js

I actually don't hate the limp OTB with hands like this and maybe like 22-77 depending on the stack depth of the previous limpers.

@sai1b0ats true, next time I will add villain stack.

@jeldredge33 I see your point but 67 is definitely within utg limper range. Thanks for the feedback though, I think I focused my attention on 67 too much.

Bdsinc2.0 I tanked because afraid mostly of 67 and 55. I honestly didn't think to raise. His stack was comparable to mine, he had about 300 behind.

Worth noting I play regularly at this casino and I had played with this guy before but didn't have any specific read. He is a young dude in his 20s. I would have expected a limp from an old man with AA (limp-reraise very common strategy).

Yes, I dont like limping pre here. A raise wouldnt have worked well in this hand, as you prolly would have gotten johnny chan'd, but generally it will be more profitable than limping. As played you can consider raising both turn and river for value. River either call or raise smallish with these stacks. I'd prolly raise to like 210. Never thinking about folding.
