NL 1-2 Grind Challenge - The Chase for $5K

Here's my story,
I have been playing for 10 years or so (mostly on line back in the day) and am in my early 40s. I am not one of those college kids trying to go pro. I have a great job and don't need the money from this challenge. I have a degree in economics and an MBA. Let's just say I am good with numbers...
My poker goal is to win steady money over the years playing poker and move my poker bankroll up to $5K so I can comfortably take a run at the $2-5 NL table.
I play primarily at a local casino where the donks are a plenty and want to spend some of these cold winter months "earning my stripes" in live poker from the ground up. I have already won $600 playing there this year (cashed in a $110 buy-in tourney and some cash wins). I feel my cash game needs work, so hence I am challenging to myself.
I have decided to use this $600 as my starting bankroll for this challenge (there's more behind it if I bust, don't worry bank roll sticklers - I know I should be funded with like $4K for this effort). I plan on reporting my sessions - typically 1 or 2 hour spurts) and some hands of interest for your critique.
Like everyone else, I consider myself a TAG player, but the question I have to answer for myself is am I any frigging good at this "hobby?" Only one way to find out...
Feel free to care or not care. First session results will follow this.

First Session Results:
Played one hour, left down $13. No big hands really, the only memorable one was when a guy straddled and I had AK (os) and raised it up to $15 to a field of folders.
Bankroll now $587.

Get ready for a lock. This belongs in poker goals and challenges or somewhere else. Please read the LLSNL stickies for appropriate forum posts.
Also with a 3 buyin bankroll $0 is much more likely than $5k.

That 1 hour session was a really ambitious way to start your "grind challenge."

Wish you luck, and if you play a tag style, think through all your decisions, and have good reads on your villains, 3 buy ins could definitely be enough to run it up. But as said before not sure this belongs here
