counter then. U said 4 handed will b the only way to play. I say the big casinos will not spread it for more than 90 days. What do you want to bet on then?

I can see 4 handed poker running at 5/10 and higher. That will basically limit it to the Bellagio, Wynn, Aria and possibly Venetian. These players won't mind a timed charge and will put up with it being 4 handed. I wouldn't even bother trying 1/3 because the rec players will shun it.

2/5 will be hit or miss. Remember, players didn't come down to the casino to turn tail and run home.

It is a little too early to make a bet on this. Phase 1 of reopening the state will start around May 15th, and casinos are expected to be allowed to open in phase 3 or 4, whenever that is.

There's other poker games besides NLHE ya know. Maybe this will be a good opportunity for them to start getting spread too.

Playing 4 handed with 3 idiots sounds great, but will never happen. Playing 4 handed with 2 good players and 1 rec player sounds awful. The fish will feel like the odd man out in most games and won't stay long. The room will be unprofitable with $2-3 rake, players won't be willing to pay $4+ rake in a 4-handed game. It just ain't gonna happen below 5/10, and even 5/10 probably won't get going often.

Having played mostly late night hours I've played 4 handed poker at the casino more times than I can count. A lot of recreational players enjoy playing short handed and frankly it better suits their inability to fold preflop. The ones that really aren't suited for this format are the tight players and the nits.

It also depends what you mean by the definition of "good." The average live pro is terrible at short handed poker.

We should just run OFC-Pineapple if we doing 3 handed...I'd rather play that at $10 to $25 a point than 4 handed NLHE

I heard through the grapevine (unconfirmed still) that Aria will be shut down until fall of 2021.

This will be an excellent opportunity to move away from NLHE.

DC - seems like a really long time to commit to (they could simply state that they are waiting till this thing is more under control before we discuss rebooting plans)... Is this an "off the record" kinda thing?

Lulz... if the hotel is shut for 18 months the mold situation would make it more reasonable to just nuke the property from orbit...

Spoiler:

It was supposedly from a letter to employees but it's possible the letter was misread/misinterpreted. A different individual on twitter claimed they received a letter but later recanted on that but is still claiming to have received a phone call about this:

It's just a rumor at this point, but if they are expecting bookings to be way down it could make sense to close either Aria or Bellagio because why spend the money to keep them both open if neither is at 50% capacity (especially with the overhead increasing due to covid-19)?

Wall Street Gaming Analyst is predicting:

"MGM would reopen NY-NY and Excalibur (popular with the California drive-in crowd), and Bellagio (high-end) in June, followed by Park MGM in late-autumn/winter, MGM Grand in early 2o21, Luxor and Mandalay Bay the following spring, Aria in the fall and, lastly, The Mirage in late 2021. Recovery, in other words, is a 2022 proposition and even then it’s somewhat emaciated, with the Strip generating 78% of 2019 cash flow, Macao 90% and regional U.S. casinos 100%. "

I love how USA has over a million active cases of coronavirus and continues to get worse and worse every day, yet they're talking about reopening things...

Never change, America.

Florida card rooms have reopened. You might have seen the setup at Hardrock Tampa where they have plexiglass in front and beside each player. The players who say they've been there hate it. You can't hear each other. It's very awkward.

The other card rooms have opened and are doing 6 max which is great if you ask me. My nearest room considers the 2/5 table to be a private game and it can go 7 max.

To enter the cardroom, you have to sign a waiver and wear a mask. They put a sticker on your cell phone so you don't have to repeat the waiver process each day. They do a temp check each day and ask you about flu symptoms.

The chips have been washed and are cleaner than I've ever seen except for a grand opening. The cards are disposed of every three days.

At the table, anyone who walks up to the table has to sanitize their hands each and every time. Take a smoke break, you sanitize on return. Dealers sanitize at each table shift. Every time a player leaves for good, his chair and rail section are sanitized by a brush.

For a slightly aggressive player, the 6 max tables are a god send. Most players have not adjusted and the OMCs of the world are still waiting for QQ+ before they raise a hand (OK, an exaggeration but not much of one). After 4 days of play, I'm averaging close to $40/hour on 1/2 and $55/hr on 2/5. And that is after a $700 loss the first day due to my own over aggression/stupidity. After making a few adjustments in my approach, I play 35 - 45% of the hands, 3! any hand I play from HJ or later, bet every hand that is checked to me, fold to any resistance. I don't expect it to stay this easy, but I'm having fun right now.
