playing 1/2 last night there was a guy who would play every hand. 100% vpip. he was raising to 25 on about 50% of them (whether it was 93o or TT) and calling raises no matter what they were, (like a 3bet to 60 he called with 68o).

for exploiting him preflop, my plan was to raise to about 25 with about the top 20% of hands and 3bet him with the same range.

as for postflop he was folding some of the time but was almost always floating and barelling or check/raising or simply raising and barrelling. he was playing very aggressive an with bet sizing of about 1/2 pot all the time.

for post flop my plan was to bet/raise any tptk+ type hand and to bluffcatch with anything that had showdown value. folding all air like queen high etc.

does this sound solid to exploit his weaknesses or would you do it different

I would try to sit to his left and look for good spots to isolate him with position, and a decent sized raise should give me a good SPR which should make postflop play much easier. With position, a stronger hand range, and a good SPR you should be in good shape after the flop.

If I'm on his right I'd probably limp-reraise with some of my big hands, and possibly c/r more often in multiway pots after the flop (unless he slows down a lot in multiway pots after the flop).

Does he back off a lot after the flop when people play back at him? With many really lag players I'll play more passively and let them continue to barrel off with much of their range, especially when they're the type that tries to pounce on weakness.

Sit on his left and nut peddle on every street.

Flat more, station more with your value hands. Let him barrel a wide range.

Def try to seat change to his left when you can.

Yes, truthfully we need a bit more information on V in order to help you out. You have laid out his preflop play fairly well, but we need a lot more info on postflop play. Folding some? How much and when? Does he ever station? How much money can we expect in implieds if we start betting him? His range will be weak throughout, so I don't like your plan of betting and raising TP. Also, don't be so quick to chuck Q high, either.

We generally want to play backwards against a real maniac, playing a VERY unbalanced range, checking and calling our good hands, betting and raising semibluffs (maybe) and pure air, until he starts to adjust, of course. Letting a LAG barrel is generally going to be our most +EV line, not giving him any information on hands we expect to take to showdown.

Sit on his right and limp/raise A9+, 77+ and GII pre assuming other opponents don't l/rr as well. Generally the way most live opponents adjust to this sort of player is by l/c a lot pre-flop, which just creates more dead money for our l/rr to pick up when V inevitably raises.

Post-flop, it's also an advantage to be on his right, since he barrels constantly, just c/c any hand which has SDV, and c/r semi-bluffs with good equity.

Against this sort of maniac, since we already know what he is going to do the majority of the time, the advantage of position on him is somewhat nullified, but by being on his right, we have relative position on everyone else in the pots, which is massively +EV.

Should be ok to 3b your premium hands pre, as long as you play them passively post.

Don't play fit-or-fold. You're gonna need to show up with something at the end, but it may not have to be much.

You don't precisely want to play backwards. You're just gonna throw the guy off by having a strong to medium calling range. Don't raise unless you're sitting on a monster otr. Once he figures out what you're doing you can start throwing in some raises on earlier streets. But even these should be relatively weak with lots of semi bluffs.

Bring chips.

Sit on his direct right.

Either l/r huge or (better if he will 3b) open small, e.g. 3bb, and 4b huge when he 3b.

Your range should be Ax, Kx, 77+. Fold everything else.

All of your bets should be cartoonishly big. Pot is $30? Bet $125+.

Post flop line should be b/3b, b/3b, shove.
