1/2 effective is my stack - 127.

Villain (1) did this an hour before the hand of this post:

I'm in late middle with QQ. Two limpers to me. I raise to 8. Folded to small blind who re-raises to 19 ai. Villain (1) calls. I shove about 55. Villain (1) calls. I already suspect he's pretty bad. I win the hand and Villain (1) shows 72o. WFT? Can't know where he's at, but he's good for the game. And I start playing very speculative hands when he's in the pot. He's got about 400 in front of him.

Villain (2) seems reasonable - no reads other than he doesn't seem to be doing anything stupid.

So, to the hand.

I have red 8's in early middle. Raise to 4 before me. Villain (2) calls. I call. Villain (1) calls.

Flop: 8 9 A (rainbow).

First player bets 15. Villain (2) shoves ai for 60.

I'm thinking this guy may have me beat already. But he's ai. I don't want to push other players out.

I slow-play and call.

Villain (1) calls - yay, that's what I wanted.

Other player calls.

So, now two players are ai for the same amount. No side pot yet. And me and Villain (1) still have chips.

Turn: 8 9 A A

Villain (1) bets 20. I raise to 40. Villain (1) re-raises to put me ai. I call.

River: 8 9 A A 9

Both villains have an A. I lose

What do you guys think about the slow-play?

It's okay but I think it often looks more suspect than just shoving it in when you're as short as you are. The smooth call of the $60 AI is fine, but the minraise just looks fishy as hell. Shove over the $20 bet.

Lol, frustrating hand.

I see what cannabusto is saying and at a different table I'd say the same, and tempted to do so here too. Let's look at pros and cons...

For the slow play: Table seems very small betting and short stacked. I fear raising allin on flop will shut players out as it may be "too much $$$" for them.

Against the slow play: There are a two players live in the hand so risk you're up against the JT/76 OESD or one of the gutshots is relatively high and you can't really call the flop bet and fold the turn whatever comes. Therefore gii on flop.

It is close but I'm going for the standard line here and shoving flop. A drier board or a bigger hand and I'd slow play though.

Also, it seems to me OP that you're playing slightly scared money: Stack is too small, raise sizing too small preflop and fearing a short stag has you beat on flop here. Maybe look at why you're playing in this way generally as well as looking at specific hands...

Yeah, the flop slowplay is arguable. But I think the turn is a clear shove. Cold calling a flop raise and then minraising turn for less than that flop raise and leaving $20 behind? I mean, cmon. Get it in.
