At my live 1/3/games in NYC they allow Mississippi on the button which, just means that you can straddle when you have the Dealer button usually for (15$). And the Rock a free straddle when your first to act.

And it can be used on the button if you have it. The Rock is usually represented by some kind of plastic object like plastic Dice. The Rock is used to create more action in the game so is the Mississippi.

So my question is do any of you have any Strategies to deal with this situation

If I were able to take a free straddle UTG meaning I can still fold without putting any money in the pot if I wanted to, I'd take it probably every single time. That way, I would be able to squeeze whenever I had a decent hand or encountered a situation ripe for squeezing with relatively no penalty or I can get a great value hand and raise an inflated pot for even bigger profits

So yeah, if you can straddle for free with no penalty and fold if you like when action got back to you, then take that Rock 100% of the time

BUt if you have to put in a limp or any money in when you have the rock, then don't do it.

As far as button straddles go, you can make the case that its profitable to raise almost ATC on the button provided you have the right image and your table is weak. I would say a BTN straddle is probably close enough to 0EV where you can do it provided you have a strong image, preferably right after you've taken down a big pot and showed down a monster.

I'd also be more prone to do a BTN straddle if I were over 200bb+ deep and there were a couple of mouthbreathing droolers or marks at the table that were likewise 200bb+ deep and I had a strong image and great reads on my villains' post flop tendencies and was able to float/steal a lot post flop.

Otherwise, I'd pass on the BTN straddle.

First, I'd stop playing in 1/3 NYC underground games due to the unbeatably high rake.

Second, obviously you're forced to straddle with the rock so there's no real adjustment there. Just treat that hand like the blinds are 1/3/15 instead of 1/3.

As for the optional Mississippi straddle, it's usually -ev. You're putting extra money in the flop preflop that nobody else has to put in. For a 5bb straddle to be profitable, you'd have to be super deep at a table over very bad players.

Technically a Mississippi straddle can be done from anywhere with the later position player having priority.

I absolutely despise the MS straddle with a passion. Since I play in MS, it is all the rage and all the casinos allow it. Someone can straddle from the CO and if the BTN elects not to do it, then the button has to act first pf. So f'ing tilting.

In the Bay area, casinos that do the MS straddle must do it differently,

here, action still starts from UTG and proceeds around the table, skips over the straddler until it goes through the BB and then action comes back to the straddler and he is last to act. If he raises, action then starts back UTG and goes around the table again and ends at the BB again...

FWIW, I'm not a big fan of the MS straddle. I may do it on occasion as I highlighted in the above post but for the most part, I don't straddle.

Only time I usually straddle is if table agrees to a round of straddles or I'm just killing the table, stacks are all over 200bb and the table has tighten up considerably...

but yeah, for the most part, I don't like straddling...

Meh I rarely straddle, so aside from a free "Rock" which I would definitely do, definitely never MS straddling.

As for strategy against, I generally will limp some of my lower raising range (then l/r if possible) but generally tightening up.

With a premium hand, I'm making my sizing bigger than normal: I'd estimate 20 + 4x for each straddle caller.
