Methods to improving postflop play away from the table? Methods to improving postflop play away from the table?

Sorry if this too broad of a question but I am mostly looking for the methodology you guys use to critically analyse and improve your play postflop for live nl

While I have spent some time going through equilab and sorting out my preflop ranges, postflop for me is more a feel thing based on experience, villain tendencies and board textures rather than exact analysis on my part

I'll make an example - 3b pots as the aggressor

Should I be plugging in my 3b range and estimate villains defending 3b range and do range vs range analysis for every single flop, and see how every turn and river change my continuing range vs villains defending range

Do I then determine bet sizing based on this equity in order for V to make incorrect calls

Similarly do I use this equity calculation to determine whether I should be x/c, x/f, x/r, b/f, b/c etc...

To determine if specific hands are a triple barrel/double barrel give up etc...

Looking for the how

It would be good to know if I'm headed on the right path

Feel free to point me to any resources (only have free equilab atm)

Wildly too broad an area to be covered in a thread. I'll keep it open for a while though.

I think your questions betray that you are thinking on a level 1 point of view: What does my villain have? Therefore all your analysis is going to be, "if I'm ahead, I should bet unless I'm trapping. If I'm behind, I should be folding if I don't have good odds for a draw, otherwise call.

You should start working on level 2 thinking: What does my villain think I have? You'll find yourself making better moves when you are this level. I'll leave you this to ponder.

I make more money with AK when I don't have it than I do when I do have it.

poker theory
Janda's last book is great

solver work
try to understand how the solver constructs ranges to specifically counter parts of your opp's range, lock ranges to see how you need to deviate from optimal, apply and profit

takes years of work to get good

Thanks guys, I'll have a look at those links.

Venice I am starting to consider my perceived range, and play accordingly, eg if I have opened from utg overcard turns like A, K often favour the pfr range so I'm barrelling them more even without AK (I think that's what you were getting at)
But the issue that this is based on intuition/experience rather than an explicit mathematical framework behind it

Any other suggestions?

You need to get a solver and start drilling boards.

For instance - drill the most common spots first.

Like ButtonvsBB or COvsBB

For instance I have been drilling A7x boards from every position (6max online so slightly different but you can do it with 10 handed or 9 handed).

So I put my Button range in - I put Villains Big Blind calling range.

Then I run an A76r board - I look at what the highest EV bet size is (or the one I am most comfortable with since bet sizing doesn't matter much in terms of EV).

Then I see what frequency I bet overall - in this example it is 33.8% Frequency overall at 75% cbet sizing.

Then I look at what hands are 100% bets and what hands are 100% checks. So in this example KK is ALWAYS a check and 77 is ALWAYS a bet.

So once I figure that out i look at the mixed range stuff where I have some leeway - I find out that we always bet our strong 7x but check our weak 7x. Same thing with 6x.

Then we move onto other positions.

I'm a huge fan of Ed Miller's books.

I think they give simple practical advice that won't steer you too far wrong.
