Hi all,

I'd like to hear some input on what you guys think in regards to different casinos rake caps along with strategies on how loose is too loose with such high rake full ring.

So casino rake caps are all 5% as follows playing 50/100HKD

Wynn 200HKD (10 handed)
Galaxy 100HKD
Venetian 500HKD

Now from what i've seen after being there and exploring each casino in depth is that the Wynn is populated with some more competent regs along with a whole heap of recreational players making the game fairly decent with a 25k max buy in where average stacks are probably around 10-15k. The rare whale sitting down at a smaller is annoying as there are so many bigger gaming options for them to choose from. There are usually games around the clock and during peak times up to 6 tables to select from. So far the most conventional styles of poker make it easier to define ranges and extract maximum in most spots.

The Galaxy's games don't get up as frequently and the games play tighter in general compared to the Wynn. Average stacks probably similar to the Wynn. Haven't witnessed many true punters at the Galaxy.

Now for the Venetian, where the rake is high and the punters in excess. Definitely the highest rate of whales passing by continues to draw me back to the Venetian's insanely high rake. Every 2-3 days i'd expect to have a punter on the table with me along with a bunch of bad regulars and tight recreational players. Stacks are probably slightly deeper on average as buy in max is 30k. The trappy style of Macau poker players makes it very difficult to extract value from opponents essentially coming down to a couple of dead seats on each table.

My question is simply is it worth playing a TAG style (on the tighter side) at the Venetian because of the higher volume of whales and would it even be possible to win money loosening up in that place? Perhaps a more conventional TAG style against players at the Wynn would net more money with lower rake and more poker as opposed to pure gifts here and there at the Venetian.

Let me know what you've concluded from personal experiences and i'd love to discuss anything else to do with strategies in succeeding in Macau.

Thanks for reading,

Joel.

I think it's gonna b pretty close In the Long run. But live players rarely reach the Long run anyway, so I'll pick Venetian. Clean those whales up first

I only tried Galaxy my last trip to Macau and the rake was still too high for the profitability of the game. Can't comment on the others. Haven't played at the Wynn for 4 years.

What do you say about the PLO games, 200 HKD rake at 5%?

4000 HKD leaving the table per hour.. seems tough to beat.

can anyone else verify that Galaxy is 100 HKD? I've been there a few year now and everytime i've walked thru the galaxy i've always just ignored the casino because i think i visited it once and it was dead AF.

It was 150/200 for 25/50 and 50/100 respectively. Room with only 2 tables open was the best action in whole of Macau while it lasted. Been closed for several months already.
