Loose all in call? Loose all in call?

Full ring 1/2 cash game at local casino
Q K off in middle position
Raise to 12 after 1 limper
BB goes all in for 57. I had him covered. Limper folds
Obviously not loving the all in shove with my holding.
Villain is a younger guy who sat down with a shorter stack.
I figured him for one of those typical low skill players who sit down with a short stack to find a hand to go all in with and take the thinking out of the equation .
But, maybe I have to describe my self.
Middle aged white haired guy who must be looked at as an old coffee drinking dude to the 20 somethings. Maybe he thought I would fold to his young gun aggression.
Long story short, I called and he showed Q Q
Was it a loose/bad call?

Depends on villain but without a read you should give this up. Villain has to be shoving 50%+ of hands before you have any real edge because his random AX and low pairs are ahead. His shove is way bigger then the pot so you need to win a good percent of the time to break even.

This is just a math problem. You need 45/117 = 38.5% equity to call. Grab Equilab or similar and see how tight his range has to be before you don't have 38.5%. This turns out to be top 9% { 88+,ATs+,KTs+,QJs,AJo+,KQo }, against which you have only 38%. So is he looser or tighter than that? Typically a random player rocking a ~30BB stack in a 1/2 game will be tighter than that, so fold.

For more of an intuitive grasp of what to do, it's useful to know that KQo and other hands of its ilk (KJo, etc) do surprisingly well against loose ranges and surprisingly badly against tight ranges.

Also, if you are viewed as a tight old guy, their response will not be to blast you with aggression, but to just always fold when you raise.

My equity is surprisingly higher than I thought. It's 31.3
I guess the question is sort of redundant. I agree, normally it's a fold but I'm also wary of folding once And then constantly having my raises reraised so I thoght It a cheap opurtunity to Set an example of i'm not to be messed with.
