Wild 2-5 game...for reference: KK lost to 79 off heads up, after calling 130 preflop.

Hero UTG+1 ($600): young regular, table image is pretty TAG.

V1 SB ($400): very loose, not much of a poker player.

V2 BB ($800): more of a business man than poker player, very aggressive. past hands experience: I know I can check to him when i have a made hand, b/c he does the betting. tends to value over pairs.

UTG calls $5

Hero raises to $25 with AA

everyone folds...

SB calls $25

BB calls $25

UTG folds

FLOP: A, 2, 5

V1 checks

V2 checks

Hero checks

TURN: 7

V1 checks

V2 checks

Hero bets: $70

V1 Folds

V2 snap calls $70

RIVER: K

V2 checks.

hero waits about 5 seconds and bets $100.

V2 tanks, asks how much I have behind, continues to tank, at one point puts both hands behind his stack and looks ready to jam the remainder of it. After about 5mins, he folds and claims to have dumped an A.

Thoughts on all streets appreciated.

if you are looking for max value, you should definitely bet the flop, whatever you would bet if you whiffed, 1/2 pot or so. Also, if players will call $130 re with 97o, you should probably raise bigger than $25.

I'm c-betting my entire range here on the flop.
BTW a "Very aggressive" player will rarely check twice here.

Top set ... I'm getting the chips in there as fast as others will let me ...

Definitely bet the flop ... standard continuation bet here ... missed some value IMO

On the turn with this strength I'm tempted to donk/raptor bet to see if I can trigger a check-raise from overly aggressive villain

River is value-town and hope someone shows up

Grunch:

I can see why you wouldn't cbet this board in a 3bet pot when you have top set, but this isn't that spot. It's a (nearly) ideal flop to cbet in this situation.

Once we cbet we have a larger pot for better (larger) river sizing. Turn check is ok/meh depending on how aggressive villain is and if he is going to be firing ultra-super blank turns like this ever. I'd just assume b/b/b here because the turn literally the blankest of blanks.

I'd bet a bit over 1/2 pot on flop and turn and expect to get called by gutshots.

I can see why you tried to trap with this read. It was wrong so reevaluate this player and how you play against him in the future.
