IMO when its resort fee on every hotel in Vegas, the Stratosphere deal becomes even better. Small resort fee, and the relatively newly build select rooms with free stabil wifi included is probably able to compete with every other hotel in the cheaper categories.

I don't think the issue with Stratosphere is the property itself. I stayed there once, although about a decade ago, and found it perfectly fine. The problem is that not only is it not the greatest part of town safety-wise (I'm just going on what I've read, mostly in LVL), but if you're in town to play poker you're not near the majority of the other 'good' rooms, so if the games there suck, you're paying in time and/or $ directly to get to another game. When you could be a stone's throw from a better table across the street or next door. Opportunity cost. Also the opportunities for food and drink options. But again, if you've got a chunk of your stay comped and you're willing to eat the potential cost of travel for play and food, who the hell cares what we think?

I am not asking for your permission, i just like the discussion and getting peoples views on the different possibilites out in Vegas. Also i try to understand why it seems like nearly everyone on this forum dislike the Stratosphere, because i just cant seem to get the grip on why is that.

It comes down to what you value the most i guess, alongside everyones personal taste.

As it stands i am getting a total package price including plane tickets with United Airlines and 2 weeks at the Strat for approximately 700-800$. Pretty good me think

The strat was awesome back when my buddy got the fee waived.

But as BMF said, you either pay in $$$ for a more expensive room or in time and $ shuttling back and forth.

I think I gave a decent answer on this, but given the comped nights and things you're getting a deal to stay there, so enjoy it. I'm not telling you that you need permission, just explaining why, under normal circumstances (paying for every night, etc.) the Strat wouldn't be in my top ten list.

I understand, no problem dude. If i was going to stay at the strip at a decent priced location i probably would have choosed Harrahs. Love the kind of classic Vegas feeling at that place, cheap prices and incredibly fishy 1-2 games downstairs

strat is a dump compared to other mid level hotels in terms of quality of everything
it is in a really nasty section of town. Not just kind of nasty - fukkin nasty
it is a pain in the ass to get to any where from there

these are the top 3 reasons why people do not like it

My priorities suck because they don't work well together. lol.
1. Location - I like being central.
2. Price - my room is a bed and a place to store my luggage. Maybe shower. I don't need much, so I don't like paying for the intangibles that don't do me any good. Although I like a good view.
3. Access to good food? Not sure there's a real solid 3rd priority.

Anyway, I'm leaning heavily toward the LINQ. And going to Hash House A Go Go. Harrah's is also a possibility.

Nothing is written in stone yet, so i hear ya. Me and my buddy is gonna meet up at my place in 2-3 weeks booking the trip together, so if i get convinced about a better deal somewhere else i am open for it.


However when my friend have 3 or 4 free nights at the Strat remember- alongside alot higher resort fees in strip hotels i have to admit i doubt we will be able getting a better deal at another location. Gonna do some more research and check out roomrates/resort fees in the upcoming days before the booking meeting in couple of weeks.

OK guys shoot me with alternatives, Lapi, Squid and everyone else who talks about how i should stay away from the Stratosphere.

Did some quick searching now at expedia.com for prices at for example Linq and Harrahs wich are double the price that Strat charge, and on top of that we get 3 nights for free. The price differences is huge imo.
