I put off doing my TR for a while because I procrastinate at everything but here we go.
Arrived in Vegas on the 30th, got to my room at the supremely classy Riviera. Harrah's would have been my first choice since I had a good stay there last time but unfortunately it would have cost nearly three times as much this time 'round. I was pleasantly surprised with my room however! It was huge, and clean. However, there was a downside, and a big one -- hardly any noise insulation. This ended up being pretty frightening as for the first two nights, my neighbors were a pair of mentally ill women who believed witches were trying to kill them and seemed to spend most of their day in their room hysterically yelling about their delusions. I can't make this up.
Luckily everyone shut up at night and I was able to sleep well enough, but it meant that playing late and napping during the day was out of the question. I also wouldn't book there again as I'd have been kept awake if even one person on the floor decided to party at 1 in the morning.
The first few days I was there, I tried to eat with others as much as possible. It was awesome to meet everyone and you all ended up being much cooler than I expected from strangers from the internet.
1/1 night was the nuts, even being at the quiet table that never even played one hand of Indian poker. I regret not playing more dgaf poker -- I didn't think to do anything other than torture myself trying to play ~serious poker~ until the very last day when I tried 4/8 O8 and kept the drinks coming the whole time. Wouldn't you know, it was actually fun!
Beer pong was fun. While sitting out a game, I played one round of craps with Aesah. Hit and run for ten bux obviously. Ended up hitting the Ultimate Texas Hold'Em table for twenty later on, putting me up like $40 lifetime in the pit
Stay away from Fat Tuesday's. I went from "I can't even taste the liquor in this" to a hair away from spewing my guts into a mcdonald's trash bin in a span of about ten minutes. That ish is dangerous. Luckily ashes was there to get me some fluids and shove my ass into a taxi home. Hope the long walk back wasn't too bad.
Ran into squid on my last day and we went for sandwiches. Had a good chat about poker and life. B&E was rad as hell and needs to post more.
I regret spending as long as I did, because forcing myself to play after almost everyone else had left wasn't fun. I should have just stayed for four days and will do that if this happens again next year. It was a pleasure meeting everyone and I hope we do it again.
