Ripped a shot of Jamison. Walked around for 15 minutes. Got my composure back and got back $650. Now down $850 with $1650 on the table but I'm planning on grinding it out until I get even. Fk work tomorrow no sleep tonight.

You guys are fine playing on that last bi? If you bring 7, you've lost 600 or 1200 BBs, reload, and you feel like everything is saying keep playing? Maybe your games are just way juicier than mine.

when I sit at a game I generally think it is worth my while. If I dont I will simply leave. Tonight for example my game was fantatic. 2 carps busted out and were replaced by 2 locals whose game I respect. Suddenly the game is not great. Its 2:30 in the morning. I dont feel like table changing to a new game and having to really focus on a million things so I bag it.

I Have been doing this a long time and am quite good at self critique. We all have forms of tilt - I do not go bananas and spray chips all over the room. I know how I tilt...and it does not happen often. I can generally take a 10 minute walk and get back to biz. If I cant I just pack it in. I have done this a handful of times since BF - where I say phuc it im done

my biggest wins are significantly higher than my biggest losses. AND I have significantly more large wins than I do large losses. AND I get a lot of hours in.

It aint rocket science. PLay well, play in games where you know u have edge. Be good at self evaluation, take breaks, focus at the table, crank hours

Took me a long time to get there, but I am generally well aware of my mental and emotional state. I get rattled like everybody but can generally regain my composure with a break.

Just two days ago, I had a session where I was down 500 bbs within two hours and ended up playing for 12 hours and winning 300 bbs on the day. If you are playing seriously for income, then you gotta be able to get in the hours and still play well. Low stop losses would unnecessarily shorten a lot of my sessions.

With 2 months left to go, there is still plenty of time for people to hit heir 2015 goals by putting in extra effort before the holidays. It would be impressive to see how big a push that motivated people will make between now and New Years.

I get what you're saying. There are only ~4 guys on here who I believe/respect what they say and you're 1 of them. And I do all of that, I just never felt I needed to bring more than 3 bi's. 7+ just seem extraneous to me. Might be a result of my player pool and/or my game.

I've never lost more than 3 buy in in a session and usually only lose 2 at most 99% of the time because once I lose two buy ins I have a loosing image and don't think I am playing my A game even if the game is good. I would rather cut my losses and clear my head. Or go to a different game/room if available.

I generally bring about 600bbs-1000bbs most of the time. If I don't bring at least 600bbs, I make sure that I have access to more if necessary (a handful of LA pros are willing to loan me 500bbs+ on the spot...especially when I offer to transfer them 500bbs+ on the spot by Chase Quick Pay or other forms of online transfer).

More than a handful of my biggest winning sessions (1200bbs+ profit) have occurred when I was stuck more than 600bbs. Why? Probably because the juiciest games have the highest variance and probably because the juiciest games are the deepest ones where the big spots have deep stacks from having gotten lucky on me earlier in session.

Hi, is this for uncapped buy in games? And if so how many bbs do you usually buy in?

If it is a say a capped 100 or 200bb buy is your strategy the same?

Thanks,

For example in a 25/50 NL no cap game where I expected there to be frequent semi-frequent straddling by 2+ players to $100-$300..I brought 1000bbs.

FWIW, I don't think in terms of buyins...I just think in term of big blinds.
I have seen games where someone will win a 1000bb (500 bbs apiece) heads up pot with pocket TT on 754J2 board...I always want to be able to keep playing and/or cover the big spots...even when I am getting buried.

Getting close to the holiday season. How is everyone doing with their goals in this home stretch?

Since a $5k week first week of September it's been the grind of all grinds. Lot of sessions just being proud to leave even or down $500. Took a big loss at a 10/10 session. Grinding November to a positive month with two weeks left. Ups and down with a few more downs than ups.

My goals where more based on a financial year, but with a lot more emphasis to be more of a student of the game and my analysis during the hand whether I'm in or not.

What example of goals do you set?

While I am not a full-time pro, I think that "quarter milly in 1 calendar year" would be the right goal for a legitimately good full-time live poker pro.

I think that monetary goals ($ made in 1 calendar year) and volume goals are really good. Win-rate goals or goals that have anything to do with win-rate are pretty dumb.

Now that the people are starting up a LLSNL Goals Thread for 2016, it would be really good for everyone to start reporting on how they are doing with respect to their 2015 goals that they posted in this thread. We don't want the 2016 LLSNL goals to go the way of most New Year's resolutions, so having some good tracking/discussion of results towards 2015 goals would be helpful.

How can you also advise having monetary goals for the entire year then? Making X amount in the year is going to depend highly on your observed win-rate.

Crossed the 500 hour mark last session, pretty much enjoyed myself doing it, will need to go on ~11 BI downswing in December to not make money.

Because if you're barely over your winrate goal it can make you hesitant to put in volume just to maintain that winrate goal. Like for example only playing on weekend nights just so you can maintain a certain winrate instead of playing on weekdays as well.

I have a rest of the year goal - average 4.5 to 5 hours a day. So 140-155 hours total. Let's go!

You can achieve a volume goal without achieving your monetary goal, and you can achieve your monetary goal without achieving your volume goal. Each of those 2 goals are worthy goals and also lead us towards taking positive actions (hard work, study off the felt, etc.).

The problem with a win-rate goal is that it causes us to focus on the wrong things.

Anyway, it is nice to have more than 1 poker goal regardless of whether we achieve just 1 of them or both of them.

How are you doing so far on the 140-155 hours end of year goal?

Had to go out of town for a bachelor's party so couldn't play for 3-4 days. Still averaging 3.4 hours/day overall for the month and 5.2 hours/day on non bachelor party days. 4.6 hours/day overall since I came back from a break which was about a month ago. 97% of it being online volume which imo is more draining mentally than live volume.
