Poker goals

Try to get volume at least 400 hours but gonna be hard.

Win 10k. I ended up this year with a hourly right under 30 between mainly 1/3 and 6/12 O8. 3/5 doesn't run a lot here. My volume was bad around 150 hours which was due to having a baby.

god I hope this is a troll. If not please stay grindin bro

I game selected very badly.. when I was there for 2 months earlier this year.. Something I'd care not to admit. If you cannot make 7k/month playing 2/5 and consider yourself a good poker player, I'd take a veryyyyyy long look in a mirror.

If you run hot 15k in 2 months isn't that out of reach. I took 15k out in a 39 day period of 2/5 at MDL. And I was not that good back then.

I think this thread is getting a little too derailed now.

Much different than saying if your not you are bad at poker. If you are winning 60/hr you need 250 hours obv. Obv on a heater you can run much hotter than 60/hr but lol this being standard

Oh I understand its not like he will insta print 15k.. But if you do not have anything else in your life and play so 40 hours a week for 2 months straight and you are a reasonable good poker player a Goal of 15k is not far fetched and you should come freaking close, and if you play more day 60 hours a week of solid poker you should far exceed your goal

To get this thread back on track......
My goals,
Try to plug a couple leaks I've recenetly found in my game.
Take way more shots at 5/10, 10/20 and different mix games
Use my gym membership more than once a year.
Go out to vegas for 3-5 weeks during the summer

Checked my 2014 goals/actions and the only one I did not employ was watching Bart Hanson podcasts. I did read many of his articles (Twitter).

I made my transition to $2/$5 NL in the latter part of 2014. My long-term goal is to attain a respectable 9bbs hourly. I will attain this through continued study, note taking/review of live play, and of course 2+2 LLSNL feedback. Shorter term (2015), my goal is to increment my current hourly (6 bbs/hour).

I will also continue to celebrate others good fortune even though I may be in a current dry spell, like now I will also continue to foster a favorable social environment at the table.

Setting volume goals for the year when working full-time and being the father of an 11yo is unrealistic. Therefore, I will prepare and study, getting in the proper state of mind before playing each of my infrequent sessions.

Outside poker room walls, continue to grow as a person, serving as an example most importantly to my daughter. Continue to support her educational and athletic goals.

Happy 2015 to all LLSNL!

1) Get top 20% of class for 1st semester at med school
2) Play 1000-1500 hours live
3) Get BR to 2 years of med school tuition costs

Most likely going to be the final year of my short lived poker times but it had to end sometime.

4) maybe join a bible study group or read the bible or other religious books or a book club~essentially finding a new hobby to replace poker eventually.
5) join ISIS

One of these goals is false.

1) Eliminate nights when I lose 3 buyins.

Reducing those nights will significantly affect my winrate, which needs to get a little bigger.

2) Take more time thinking a hand through. Sometimes I become a robot and just go with my gut and make a decision. Need to make sure to slow down, take a deep breath and think.

get rolled

quit or get fired from mcdonalds-like job

be that guy at the poker room grinding 2/5 all the time

read comicbooks

(also chipkelly goal, try to reduce the 3 buyin drops. ill look at graph, and it seems decent, then ill go over ind sessions and see some 2-3 dropped bi sessions and think, well ****, my winrate would be a lot better if those were even only 2 or 1 1/2 dropped bi sessions)

2015:

1. Completel P90X. This was a failed goal from last year. This is my year!

2. Become much more cerebral and systematic in my approach to poker. Use stove and flopzilla more. Post in more difficult and thought provoking threads without skimming the surface like i tend to do.

3. Play at least 250 hrs. This seems small to most, but I have a fam to take care of.

4. Build roll to 15K. If i reach 20K, take at least one good shot at $5/T and honestly assess my place there.

5. Play the best game available or don't play at all. Find a balance with poker and life that leaves my family not feeling abandoned for cards.

6. Finish off PNLH and both Elwood books.

Make 1 years current salary in 3 months ($60k) as incentive to quit day job, and then keep job for entire year anyway while continuing to play as proof I'm ready to go pro. Either that or work out part time employment deal to supplement income whilst considering poker my full time job.

Didn't post 2014 goals so I will just make a quick synopsis here before posting 2015 goals.

Ended 2014 on a massive downswing (-$4800 on a six session losing streak) with a total for the year of $5915 on 450 hours. I basically cut my winrate in half in the last two weeks of the year! I got lucky to finish ITM in my first and only WSOP bracelet event for another $4500. It's weird how I feel about the losing streak as I am getting a lot of cooler hands and the big hands that I make a mistake in I know exactly what they are (now I just have to diagnose them before I make them). So all in all I am not that frustrated with the recent losing streak.

2015 goals

Goal 1: Be regularly playing in and beating $2/5 by end of year
How: 1. Play $2-5 on weekends at the beginning of the year (when the games should be better) and assess how I am doing. Stick to $1-2 and $1-3 during the week until I feel I am one of the better $2-5 players every time I sit down.
2. Get a subscription to CLP or another training site.
3. Practice at low limits online at night when I am too busy at work to go to the casino (I live in NJ, so this is an option for me). Be accountable for these dollars and don't just throw them away.

Goal 2: Play another WSOP bracelet even this year
How: Really just a matter of getting time off from work. I am supposed to get time off around the 4th of July. The Main event is starting 5 July so hopefully I get the week before off and can play another $1500 the weekend before.

Goal 3: Lose 40 lbs (I am currently 278 lbs)
How: 1. Use my treadmill at least 4 times/week
2. Restrict beer drinking to only when out with friends and on Sundays (want to have it for Football), and never at the poker table (this may help with Goal 1)
3. Use my grill to cook more food at home vice eating processed or take out food.
4. Buy only fruits to snack on vice having so much junk food lying around.

Happy New Year and Good Luck to all in 2015!

Think more before acting.
Bet more.
Fold more.
Call less.
Triple the bank roll. (It's not that big so less of a stretch than it may sound.)
Take occasional shot at 2/5 if successful at #5.

On the last night I played before 2015 (Dec 30th), I tried to focus hard on the first 4 of these. Ended up +2.3 BI for the night.
