Re: Live Hand Template (please sticky)

I appreciate your effort, but I am not sure we need such a standardized layout necessarily. People just need to list their stack sizes, relevant action, their hand, and anything they knew about villains at the time of the hand. In an easy-to-read layout with proper spacing of course.

Re: Live Hand Template (please sticky)

Hint: If u want decent responses to ur HH, put some time into it...

If u like FoldnDark's layout (or somebody else's) 'CopynPaste' is ur friend (and just just change the info obv.)

BTW: Listing everyone at the tables stack sizes my be overkill (but it can't hurt either if u know them.)

Yeah great job on making a template. It was getting tiring to read paragraphs from people who generally aren't great writers.

Re: Live Hand Template (please sticky)

Just a template to help folks get started. Obv it's not necessary to follow it exactly, but it could be useful to cutnpaste. I hope Kurt will sticky it or something similar since we don't have easy converters like those online kids.

Re: Live Hand Template (please sticky)

I appreciate the sentiment, but it doesn't really seem like its necessary to sticky by itself.

It would be a great part of a FAQ though that could get stickied. I think Kurt said he was working on one.

Re: Live Hand Template (please sticky)

Its not a requirement... I'm not about to go locking threads that don't follow it. But its a great idea and well done, and it would help everyone if people put some effort into their posts.

Until I get more good together FAQ etc., this goes up.

unneccessary, imo.... just encourage people to write clearly and succinctly and include all relevant info. as regular posters we should be gently reminding people when they fail to do this.

Re: Live Hand Template

I don't see why everyone's knocking it. Seems like a decent template to follow. One would just copy n paste this template then fashion it to suit their hand. One change I would suggest is an "effective stacks" line...

i agree. it reminds me of the time i was like in this hand. and there was this dude who was super laggy and he raised. and i just called because i wanted to see the flop. and the flop came out jack king king. and this one guy checked to me. not the guy that raised a different guy he was in the big blind. so he checked to me and i bet 100 and the guy that raised folded and the other guy raised me. what do you think i should have done there.... oh yeah i had AQcc...

Proofread to make sure you changed it all!

I can easily see myself writing up the preflop and flop action, then getting distracted and leaving the example turn and river in there, and accidentally posting it like that.

So I'll just write my own from scratch.

Forums with 4 or 5 sticky threads are usually a sign of inadequate planning about information architecture (or whatever you want to call it). Seriously.

Re: Live Hand Template

Sorry for a 3rd consecutive post, but something else came to mind:

Please give your post a meaningful title. Not meaningful:

"$2-3 Commerce hand"

"How would you guys play this?"

"All-in on the turn; what do I do?"

Open to suggestions about what would be preferable, but I usually use something like:

"$1-3, KK, J96-T turn facing donkbet"

Sometimes I think that scares people off rather than invites them to reply, though.

Re: Live Hand Template

I agree that its a good idea to give a decent description of the hand in your title. This helps attract interested people. I wouldn't lose a lot of sleep over it though, because after all, the meat of the thread is what matters. If it's an interesting/tough situation it will provoke interesting conversation. And all that starts with a clear complete description which can be easily understood by those attempting to analyze the situation. This template should help people with that if they would like, but once again, it is not necessary and nobody will get banned for very long if they don't use it.

Re: Live Hand Template

I'm noticing few people are putting their own table image in their descriptions. I think it is an important peice of the puzzle and ought to be included in every hand history. It helps deterrmine how villains interperet your actions, thus influencing their responses.
