$2/$5 NL at a nearby casino. Main opponent is an asian guy who seems to be a loose / passive recreational player. This is the first time he's raised preflop during the half hour or so he's been at the table (he's done a fair amount of limping and calling preflop). Button appears to be a regular.

Asian guy open raises to $20 in early position, button calls and I call in the BB with AQ. Flop comes QT4, I check, asian guy quickly bets $40, button calls, and I call. Turn is 7, I check, asian guy immediately bets $100 (he seems very confident) and button folds. What's my play? He has $200 left after the turn bet.

Against a loose and passive player raising in EP, I would fold this preflop from the BB with only one other caller. Your either marginally ahead or marginally behind the raising range of a passive villain here. Playing it OOP really makes it hard to play profitably and only one caller means your not getting really good pot odds.

As played, make a read on the turn and go with it. I would favor fold though. The only part of his range you really get value from on river is KQs. AA/KK have you beat, AQ is a chop and the hands you do beat give up on river most of the time.

Pre flop call or 3 bets fine...not enough info to fold AQ even oop with just 30 minutes of play....probably perfer 3 betting , dead money from the caller (well at least if he calls you will be ahead of his range).and blockers to AA and QQ...and a good chance the passive villain will let you know if he has AA or KK...

flop check call is fine...

turn...
Villain has fired 100 (probably a big bet amount for a passive player??) after having 2 callers on the flop....easy fold...

i just find a fold at some point.
just think, what can you imagine a loose passive guy who doesnt raise much pre having that you can beat at this point?

Ok, I did fold the turn and this was my thinking. It just felt a little bit weak at the table.

You played it fine.

Don't fold AQ PF, unless villain is a PF nit.
