I am in the cut off with $115 and AJs (clubs). UTG straddles $6, 3 callers when it get to me I decide to just go ahead and call the straddle. Gets back to UTG and he adds $25 on top, again 3 callers and it gets to me. At the club I was playing the game is very loose and raising the straddle (before it got back to him) won't get anyone off of the hand once there 2 or more callers (at this particular table there were some action players that love to call the straddle and love to play big multi way pots). So the UTG straddle isn't an action player, but he isn't very good either, I know there's no way for me to know but I had a strong sense he had 99,1010,AK,AQ. Because of that and the good odds I was getting I decide to call the $25. The flop comes 9J10 2 spades. It gets checked to the player to my immediate right (very loose player who gambles and loves to bluff but knows this and plays like this because he's there to have fun not grind) he bets $75, I go all in, he calls with Q7o (q of spades) I saw the flush draw and straight on the broad but I just didn't think he flopped a straight, so thats why I moved all in, we run it twice (turn and river) I die twice, turns the straight on first go, goes running spades on 2nd go.

I am more interested in knowing if this was bad play by me or just bad luck. Being honest with myself and looking back at the hand I feel I should've raised it preflop ( I called the UTG straddle and raise because i had position and odds) the reason i didnt raise it is because i just didnt think i was going to get anyone off of the hand.

Any feedback is appreciated and thank you all. Happy New Year.

Pre is kind of meh but I understand how we got here. OTF there's $125 in the pot and you have $90 back with TPTK so rip it in and live with it.

You may need to consider ripping pre first time around if you think you have fold equity. Stack sizes are awkward though. I would rather either do more short-stacking around $80 or buy up to at least $200 and play more poker.

With the straddle in play your really effectively at 20BBs and too short to mess around. With loose action players and a short stack you need to be in raise or fold mode. If villains are going to be that sticky just shove preflop if there are limpers.

Raise pre after all of those limpers!

As played, getting it in on this flop is totally standard with your stack size.

Thanks for the insight and quick replies. I agree with the three of you, could've/should've played it better preflop. I'm motivated to improve my game and crush it this year. Happy New Year to you guys and we will crush it in what ever we do!
